Injuries

This is a typical problem with these cup ties and a small squad. Our best player by a country mile in all our preseason games and now injured in a meaningless cup game, when the league is everything.

  • I just want my lad to witness a promotion. Don't really care what happens or who plays for us after that. I definitely will in the future, but the absolute focus has to be to get out of this mind-numb

  • I disagree. His BWFC years were some of his greatest and happiest of his career. His latest SSN documentary piece highlighted this, as does countless footage of his wonder, his PFA nominatio

We tend not to release details of longish injuries. Only after the first game they're missing.

Bit more noise about this now.

This is really bad news.

He was the one who seemed to be standing out in pre-season.

God we do get it rough with Injuries to key players.

Only one who looked like scoring..........

Well after 1 game down to 2 midfielders and no strikers EE still not fit . Rueben out and Simons banned so we are going to rely on Watson ( who as been unconvincing) and Sheehan ah well here’s hoping for 0-0 then.

And some folk were questioning why we were making sub changes at the back.

He should have come off much sooner.

Is that a rare criticism of SS? 😄

I'd have taken him off immediately he went down, it wasn't just a small knock, he was creased for a couple of minutes. And not like it was 1st half when you want to stick with the pre-game plan. Just doesn't make sense with so many sub options (Christie, Olazabal drop back, Brunt).

Yes it is.

Especially when it happened the week before with Rodrigues.

I temper the criticism with the approach I generally take, in that we don’t know the full picture, they are the ones with all the data and information etc. And you can’t always take everyone off who goes down with an “injury” - always more difficult too when it’s a player you rely on and is having a great game.

But yes it looked bad when he went down, waving his arms about, I’d have had him off then. But who am I 😊

You are desperado.

If you need help let me know 😅

Is it not something to do with the "substitution windows" we now have?

I'm guessing it makes it difficult to make just the one change because you've then lost a window

That will definitely play a part too.

It's not that bad, we've had players trying to run off ruptured ACLs before

I know & agree, but ...

"Each team is allowed three separate 'windows' during normal time to make up to five substitutions".
