jmjhb Posted January 26 Posted January 26 If it is 8-10 weeks, then it's less than I expected and he's back for the run-in and potentially playoffs. Quote

I tend to agree that we probably won't see him again - I wonder if that'll force us into the loan market again, or if we'll just go with what we have Quote
Lostock Whites Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Awful to have happened, despite his form he's put 100% effort in each game and always looks to make things happen. Saying that, it looks bad at the moment especially as we've not even brought anybody in yet attacking wise and we was desperate already. But it's a team game. And maybe we've been over reliant upon the young lad. We can be more unpredictable for the opposition now and look to create goals from other areas. Saying that, ACD hasn't scored in nearly 3 months. But terrible news for us. We've gone from having a massive squad with hardly any injuries all season to offloading; Vic, Forrester, Randall and JDC, and losing Forss and ACD probably for the season. 6 players down in a couple of weeks. We desperately need a goalscorer and another attacking player now. Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted January 26 Posted January 26 The meltdown on Twitter is of monumental proportions. SS said to Iles this morning we were looking to get forward additions in anyway but those efforts were being ramped up. I'm sure they are and they know who they want, things will probably look a bit different this time next week. In the meantime, if we can't find a way to get 4 points out of Burton and Wimbledon with what we've got we don't deserve to be in the shake up anyway. Quote
paulhanley Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Bad news for the young lad and none of us would have wanted this to happen. He has done really well for us and a big pat on the back to the kid. However we have to use this as an opportunity now. ACD is representative of a squad that is a little bit on the young side and since early to mid December that has often shown. In parallel we had become a little bit predictable in our formation and ACD himself had become a marked man. Hard to know how much dosh there is available and Fergal has to judge a lot of logistics - how many loans can we have (given Forss and ACD will return before May) is one thing that very obviously needs thinking through. However I think we now need to go for some experience and know-how. Proven ability, streetwise types. Not always straightforward. If we sign players in their later 20s on 2-3 year deals for a fee there is a sell-on value to considered. They also need to convert in to a Championship squad if fortune favours us come May. Or to put it another way we cannot afford to do what Huddersfield did 12 months ago with Dion Charles. Long and short of it there are going to be quite a few incomings. Let us use it as the chance to freshen up, become more flexible in our approach, bring leadership on to the pitch, take more of our chances and get some momentum going. The additions of Morais and Le Fondre in the Parkinson promotion season springs to mind. Quote
desperado Posted January 26 Posted January 26 The ACD news is something to genuinely be negative and disappointed about. Our best player curtailed at a time we needed him. Gutted. We haven’t got anybody in the squad currently who can replace his talents. A chance for someone else. I’m just pleased we’ve got another system to use now, which suits some of our other players better. Quote

Jol_BWFC Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Is it just me or do our physios have a tendency to allow players to play on with injuries when it’s obvious they should be coming off? Risking greater injury. ACD was clearly in agony and something wasn’t right, but he was allowed to play on - potentially doing more damage. I’m sure we had similar at Bristol (Santos) and I think Orient a couple of years back where players were hobbling on when it was evident they were crocked. Then a day later it’s announced they are out for weeks. Quote
TrickyTrotter Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Who was it (many years ago) who did an ACL but played on in the game they did it? For some time?  It must be the Adrenalin. Quote
desperado Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Didn’t Adebeyejo carry on for a bit when he fucked up his knee? In one sense physios/management can’t win, players often run off some of these knocks they get. And if it means keeping your best player on and they tell you they are ok, it’s a bit of a dilemma. That said I was really surprised when ACD got up and carried on as it looked bad after the initial challenge. In fact was it a bad challenge, or was it more an awkward fall? Anyone seen any footage? And from a players perspective you don’t want to go off, if there’s a chance it’s just a tweak or a knock that isn’t serious.  Quote

Definitely a free kick but it seemed to me a very unfortunate injury. As ACD started to go down his right leg jarred against the turf and almost popped him back up. Looked a bad injury immediately so was surprised he carried on for a few mins Edited January 27 by Stig Quote

It’s really shit timing and could derail our season. The counter balance to this, is that another extremely important factor in sport is confidence. At the moment with 7/9 points, two decent away performances, getting our home record back in line and implementing a new system to good effect, the players should be relatively confident. In the past, under Evatt, the mentality of the squad was rightly questioned. This is a perfect moment, with key injuries and a limited squad for players to show some mettle, establish their reputations and continue this form. Results, not performances are the priority. Good chance tonight to continue this positive run. Quote
