Absolutely true.

I did jury service once. A bunch of Scouse hoodlums being done for affray, threatening behaviour,  GBH etc.

The fecking time wasted was stunning.

I was due to be on a jury again earlier this year until it turned out Mrs. F was to be one of the prosecution witnesses.

Shopping days haven't existed for years and years.

There's no day's leave for the King or Queen's birthday, or day of death, either, just the standard bank holidays like everyone else.

I apologise, yes.

One privilege day, in theory for the King's/Queen's birthday but in practice allocated to the day after the Boxing Day bank holiday (not on a day of the employee's choosing).

The courts don't sit between Christmas and New Year (although the court and the offices are still open) because solicitors and the Criminal Bar break for the festive period, so it has no impact on the backlog or court sitting days.

I thought that but asked a lawyer friend who said that provided the cops had fair reason, they followed proper process and it was reasonable to charge him then no legal process compo.
