It was never posted as a ghoulish murder anniversary per se but as a reminder of a point in time that I was shocked was 20 years ago.

But is it really any different than posting an anniversary of, say, the Challenger explosion or 9/11? Anniversaries of a point in our lives where most folk would recall where they were and what they were doing.

well I did

Fulham (a)

as for today

Maryiln Monroe died 60 years ago today

those Chilean miners got stuck for 69 days in 2010

Neil Armstrong was born in 1930

the first electric traffic light was set up in Cleveland Ohio, only had red and green, no amber

  • Not that it matters , but I took the post as a “ gosh twenty years , seems like yesterday “ statement  rather than an “ anniversary “ thread .  Probably seems so close as the shock around it was so

It’s not that I didn’t care but Bradford, Hillsborough and 9/11 had more impact on me because they involved everyday folk Diana simply entrenched my hatred of the paparazzi/tabloids and the folk

And today marks the 25th anniversary of the death of The People’s Princess.

Hope I’m ok to post about a memorable point on my life’s timeline.

It was deffo Fulham.

We were winning but lost 4-1, i sulked all night and  that news about the 2 girls was the real sickener.

On a brighter note, 47 years ago today i started at big school.

They had pissed about with the holidays that year 1975 and first day back was Aug 4th.

I remember that ! 4th August, my birthday only ever time I had to go to school on the day.

Was Dodi or Diana originally down to referee that night?

I think the singer Dido was due to do it, but after the Dodo died and Dodi died and Di died, she was shitting herself.

clear as day, I remember I was having a shit

my brother knocked on and said "have you heard, diana's dead"

went to the shop shortly after for a paper, and they had all been printed ahead of events and had a pull out about dodi and diana's love

Something similar. Heard it as I got up and it certainly switched the brain on rapidly.

All a bit too much today though, a bit mawkish.

as for anniversarys

only 11 days till the best one and all the good TV that comes with it

Newsreaders this morning telling us how disgusting it was to have Diana’s sons walking behind the coffin. Thing is, have they only just realised? Why wasn’t the same disgust shown 25 years ago or on each of the 23 previous anniversaries?

It’s as if it became fashionable to be upset about the past. Oh, yeah, that!

It's been brought up time and time again for years. You'll probably ask this question again on the 30th anniversary.

Saved a penalty 25 years ago today. Great save down to the bottom right. Then the bastard's scored off the corner.

Spent the day listening to Be Here Now and went to the Boundary Stone head to toe in Bolton gear- pub was completely decked out in Man Utd carpets, pictures... I had a Stella.

Mad what you can remember

it was a Sunday morning

i was on the way to paint the Staffroom of the Iceland in Burnley

when i heard  it on the NEWS

Returning from camping in the lakes with an epic hangover.

My mate was driving and every station was just playing sad music and he lost it and went off on a big rant. He then shoved a rock anthems CD on full blast, might have been a tape even as his car was a shed.

Can't remember the time but it was late when reports started to come in. It must have been about 2 am before I went to bed. It was wall-to-wall coverage on the news channel but no reports of her death,  but I do seem to remember the BBC were saying Dodi had died.

I had one of those “Princess on Board” stickers in the back window of my car.

I made a note that day not to drive through tunnels in Paris

I went to Paris the following April and of all the things to see that tunnel was top of my list

Diana simply entrenched my hatred of the paparazzi/tabloids and the folk who lapped up their pictures/stories

spotted this place in Tenerife last week

didn't go in though

We were staying at a caravan near Lytham but had been to visit my folks in Howfen on the Saturday night.

I walked up to that paper shop near the market to hall and got my dads papers, Sunday at people and a sports paper that the MEN used to do think it was called pink on Sunday (might have to imagined that).

Anyway i walked back looking at the back pages, got back, slapped the papers down and my dad said what's that say about Di & Dodi,? (Wasn't the headline).

Drove back over towards Lytham and took kids to Blackpool pleasure beach and it was closed due to the Di incident.

Sure it was early hours in the morning as I heard it in a taxi coming home from Hawthorns as I was getting out at a girls house I’d pulled in there
it nearly ruined it when she heard it , was all upset and everything.
not that I was cold hearted and didn’t care like, but not just at that moment .
