Brand Evatt

We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons.

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

When Evatt gets sacked, and a new fella comes in, do we all default to "happy clappers" again, until we lose a game?

I think as a statement it's totally delusional at best and taking people for idiots at worst.

Her opinion, but mine would be that there is a difference between showing loyalty to a manager and acting as their personal PR.

Sacked from Fulham after going 7 games without a win. Sacked from Sheffield United after only winning 6 from 19. Sacked from Dynamo Moscow 18 months ago and hasn't worked in football since.

Got Fulham promoted in 2018 from League 1, Got Watford promoted to the Premier League in 2015.  Perfect no, but a good manager with a proven history of success at this level, yes.

Well, she has now tagged herself directly to Evatt and the team performances. If the worse happens and we have a bad Christmas period (here's hoping we don't), people will start venting directly at her,  which hasn't really happened as yet

So what are you asking or alluding to then?

If you want to know my personal opinion of who I want in charge, anybody who I listed above as well as many countless young promising managers, potentially in Europe that could do a better job.

If I had the time to do a full scout report then I'm sure I could find somebody.

For a start, the question wasn't directed at you...

All you've done is list a load of managers who you "believe" would do a better job, and said there are loads more you can't name. Have you thought of emailing Sharon?

Lot of drama on here.

No drama just reality. Each year the prem gets stronger and by default so does the championship. It will become harder to be competitive in the championship the longer we are in L1. I’m quite calm about things but we are just treading water by keeping Evatt.

It's flawless. Have you emailed Sharon?

More than your hero Evatt will ever achieve.

Evatt has had plenty of time. He had my support up until Wembley and then it was clear as day that his methods are flawed and we are now wasting this season.

I don't have any "heroes". Life isn't a pantomime. Grow up.

Well he's probably here till the end of the season. And we're still in touching distance. You can either support the team, or be a snowflake.

I've read folks comments on social media and other places. Plenty saying weak as piss. No bottle etc.. I would say the opposite. Not buckling under external pressure. No knee-jerk reaction. The sort of boss we all want.

Team Sharon.

Not sure getting rid would have been a knee-jerk reaction!

All irrelevant now though, she's made a statement and it's time to focus on the team and results.

As others have said, the comment in the statement about having to progress seems clear enough, and I agree that it is a sort of dreaded vote of confidence.

He does appear to have the rest of the season though, so still time.

I can't help feeling that a few will be going in the window, some of whom we may not be pleased about- guess we'll see.

He has a lot to do though: fans aren't convinced he will succeed at all and a big turn around is needed.

There literally isn’t one player in our squad that I’d be really gutted to see go. A few that would raise eyebrows, and I think Sheehan or Collins would be the closest I’d get, but I genuinely couldn’t give a shit if any went.

Which is a sad state of affairs.

That's funny because you're defending him harder than Gloucester Hill.

Dear fans,

Fuck you.

Love Sharon

The IE illusion at work. Touching distance but a million miles away with him.

I haven't defended him in the slightest. I'm just not wetting my pants with rage, like you.

I take your point, but I reckon most are capable of getting us up. Let's be honest, a win at Wembley would have, but on the day, the tactics and managerial/coaching nous won.

I feel there are maybe some bad eggs and/or players that have lost faith in the manager, and it is those that will be shipped out (if possible).

If they're giving him the backing, then that must include any restructuring of the playing staff, within financial limits of course.

Definitely need one or two strong/experienced characters in.

He's not going. Suck it up, or carry on being furious about something you can't control. We'll all be supporting the club long after Evatt has moved on. Doesn't really matter what happens in the meantime.

I suspect Sharon’s argument there would be, none of those managers are still in post?

Therefore long term success and continuity is very questionable.

“IF” she is right we could replace Plymouth and Oxford and have a supported management team in place to sustain championship football.

Not sure I personally believe that, but it’s clear after her statement today, she does.

I always support the team thanks. Doesn’t mean I agree with the direction it’s being taken.

Well there’s a number of things you can do on the back of that statement:

1/ Be a sanctimonious prick and keep telling everyone “I told you so” about things going wrong, while keeping away from the place till he’s gone.

2/ Be angry at Evatt, Sharon, the club, let it spoil your Christmas and turn up with banners and/or keep the abuse going in the hope your protests will make Sharon think differently.

3/ Stop going, vote with your feet.

4/ Keep going and/or pick and choose your games. You’re too invested to ditch us, regardless of the manager, even though you know things aren’t going to improve with him here, you don’t want us to lose, you’ll just continue your apathy till he’s gone.

All 4 of those aren’t how I want to spend my life! I kind of get option 4, but the other 3 won’t enter my head, it’s option 5 for me.

5/ You either give Sharon your full backing or accept the decision even though you don’t agree with it. You recognise, in this world of hate, disloyalty and doubt, we have a chairman who places an emphasis on family, tradition and continuity. Her decision making, while unusual and lacking universal fan support, is one brought about by trying to do things differently, by showing loyalty, honesty and support.

Yes it might be displaced and might in the end be proven wrong, but I’m pleased to hear it’s through the best intentions of trying to make us better and make progress.

Unless you’re going to be a miserable twat, get behind them, make sure your favourite past-time is something that brings a bit of fun and enjoyment, you just never know….

Happy Clappers unite 😂👏👏

The problem is option 4 isn't something you can choose really. Too much has passed with Evatt and I'm not invested in him anymore.

Not a conscious decision, I'm just apathetic about the whole club as it seems we're going nowhere and indulging a poor manager.

Once you've lost that feel good around the place it's difficult to get back. You can see that with attendance (actual) and atmosphere around the Reebok this year.
