He's got 6 months to turn it around now. Hopefully he realises it's now or never and we see an improvement in performances. I would've preferred a change in management but would love it if he's dancing round the pitch in May flicking V's at me and everyone else after we've got promoted.

Does he or if we get to the Play off finals and lose on penalties will that be enough progression? it's a joke.

I reckon he leaves if we don't get promoted this season. But I don't really know. Same as everyone else.

One thing we are is very predictable with our results depending on the opponent. Running through our fixture list and putting a very realistic W/D/L against each, I make it that we end up on 72 points - without any material change I’m pretty confident that we’ll be within +/- 5% of that which basically means 8-10th based on the last 5 years’ tables.

The only way you end up materially higher is optimism or blind faith - something that I can understand some of our fans believing (it’s what we do, we’re the best team in the world etc etc.) but I just can’t see how she gets there. There must be something, she’s not daft and I can’t see that she’s making fundamental decisions based on optimism, I just can’t see what it is other than more investment in Jan or a promise from Evatt that he’s going to fundamentally change something.

Exactly where I'm at.

Trouble is, I think it's far more likely we'll be experiencing further humiliation with another soul crushing defeat to near neighbours, promotion contenders than celebrating promotion.

Ah well. Big boy pants on and let's see where we are in May (still in division 3 obvs)

He could certainly turn it around but he’d have to turn himself and his ideas around first and I just don’t see that happening. I would love to be proved wrong by him and as you say love for him to be flicking v’s at us after promotion but I’m afraid I just can’t see it. He's so totally entrenched in his views and convinced he’s right that he doesn’t have the capacity to change. It’s a bit sad really because I don’t doubt for one second his desire to get us promoted and the workrate he’s prepared to put in to achieve it but I just don’t think he has the personal qualities to do it. I so hope I’m wrong and it sounds from Sharon’s message that she’s going to give him every chance to deliver which I genuinely hope he does despite my doubts.

We won't go up and he will ultimately be sacked. By that stage any credibility he has with the fans, any 'thanks for the memories' sentiment will be entirely eroded. And, as apathy kicks in, the club will be financially worse off as a result ... god forbid we give him more brass to waste in January.

Seems a strange and un-businesslike stance to take, and I can't see it doing anyone any good in the long term.

I suppose the only (forlorn) hope is that Sharon's some kind of visionary, and us simple fans - who've seen it all before and sense the inevitability - don't actually know what we're on about.

Bah fucking humbug.

Yeah, have to agree. How would Mr Evatt even feel around Easter time knowing he's getting sacked at the end of the season?, the home crowds are under 10k and zero atmosphere around the place as we stumble to a 9th place finish and over 30 pts behind the top 2.

Business people need to make money, success on the pitch can generate a bit more interest & God knows its SO easy to lose a customer and never get them back, remember the late 70s? You couldn't get near Burnden on a Saturday but by 1981 we were getting 5-6k crowds and dwindling.

Fingers crossed but could be a tough time ahead.

Sobering thought but very true. 😞

We're now in the 5th year of a 3 year plan to get promotion to the Championship, with the aim of selling the club for a profit. How long until they decide they dont want to lose any more money? 1 year, 2 years...it's going to come eventually. This is the reason for my anger, some people seem to have forgotten about that little birdie.

I'd love this to be a call for arms and every fucker gers behind them all and we fucking go for it as one. One final push.

But then I realise I've been smoking crack. Apathy will reign and things will turn sour pretty quick :(

Only a complete system change and new philosophy can save him now.

Just fucking go for it Ian. It's your last chance.

Ha admirable.

I’ve read it and I’m gonna stop wasting my energy on BWFC.

As said it’s hers to do as she wants. As it’s my call to bin off my emotional investment.

I disagree with pretty much everything she says.

The bit about supporting Ian and his staff is laughable as Craddock and the analyst man may disagree.

Fantasy stuff to say we are on an upward curve.

Good luck her and IE.

When are you going to realise that you're arguing with yourself? Maybe go for a walk or something.

He doesn't have the ability to get us promoted.

Under him we will never be promoted out of League 1, he seems to have made some element of the fanbase and the Ownership delusional.

Yep, League One for the foreseeable.

I suppose if another club put out this kind of statement about their manager, albeit hidden in a bigger statement, we'd be saying he'd got the dreaded vote of confidence.

I'm pleased she has come out and said something. If nothing else, it removes some doubt for a little while.

I do think it's telling that she refers to having met the players and wider squad herself. This, as far as I am aware, isn't the norm outside of matchdays. It probably points back to the cultural issues (I saw this with my own eyes last Friday but have held off saying anything - it's definitely still an issue though) and was no doubt a rallying call.

The next 4 games are tough. Despite her statement, a tally of 2 points from 12 may force her hand anyway.

It'll be an interesting Christmas.

I've never seen any statement saying the aim was to sell the club, for a profit or otherwise.

If he turns things around from this and Mounts a promotion challenge it will be the biggest comeback since Lazarus of Bethany.

Might stick a tenner on promotion :)

December 2021:

“Where that place will be – whether it’s the Championship or beyond, or we get to the Championship and it needs significant funding, we will always do what is best for the club and not what is best for me. That is the lens I look through.

“If it is a three-year journey, it is a three-year journey, if it five, it is five. I have said from day one as long as I am enjoying it and my family are not affected in any way, I’d continue, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it."
