1969 Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Well at least we now know her thoughts/opinions and of which I don't agree with, but she owns/runs the club so she calls the shots.Personally I think he needs sacking but it looks like he's here till end of season. Quote
Zog1 Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 He doesn't have the ability to get us promoted. Under him we will never be promoted out of League 1, he seems to have made some element of the fanbase and the Ownership delusional. Quote

Yeah can’t say I agree but at least we know now. I think this will impact attendances now but at least folk know where we stand Quote
nantwichwhite Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Ian is a very lucky man to have that kind of backing. Quote

It doesn't matter how angry the prolific posters on a forum are. Time to cross fingers, hope for the best and enjoy the rest of the season as best we can. Quote

What did people think she would say ? Not at all. I'm pleased she's spoken ... not that I agree with her but that's not my job. It must be good to have a boss who gives you so much support (stop sniggering at the back) at least visibly. Hopefully less sanguine in private (I won't say this again) ... & somewhat better than the dreaded vote-of-confidence. But we can stop looking for the "Evatt leaves" headlines for a while. Sadly. medwaywhite Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 None of us want to lose games. That sentiment is shared by me, the Board, Ian, and the team. After every match - whether we win, draw or lose - there is deep reflection and analysis as we continually work to improve. As a Board, we are not afraid to ask tough questions and challenge appropriately to ensure that that’s the part I find baffling deep reflection and analysis yet we still play the same tactics it’s like Groundhog Day Quote
Zog1 Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Might as well be done with it and just change the team name to Ian Evatt FC, it's pathetic. Quote

gonzo Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 I'd love this to be a call for arms and every fucker gers behind them all and we fucking go for it as one. One final push. But then I realise I've been smoking crack. Apathy will reign and things will turn sour pretty quick Only a complete system change and new philosophy can save him now. Just fucking go for it Ian. It's your last chance. Quote
perth_white Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 I'm glad I'm the sort who is generally optimistic and hopeful that things will work out. There's some on here that have just had Christmas ruined for them. To paraphrase a famous quote ' accept what you cannot change'. Quote

Be interesting how the January window goes. The thought of more of his signings strikes fear in me at the moment as it’s just not worked this year Quote

No. I told you lot literally years ago now that this would happen. If more of you would have voiced my opinion and listend to fact after Wembley he'd have gone. Yet he's still here like a cancer. wakey Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 We won't go up and he will ultimately be sacked. By that stage any credibility he has with the fans, any 'thanks for the memories' sentiment will be entirely eroded. And, as apathy kicks in, the club will be financially worse off as a result ... god forbid we give him more brass to waste in January. Seems a strange and un-businesslike stance to take, and I can't see it doing anyone any good in the long term. I suppose the only (forlorn) hope is that Sharon's some kind of visionary, and us simple fans - who've seen it all before and sense the inevitability - don't actually know what we're on about. Bah fucking humbug. Quote

Zog1 Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 I said way back that it doesn't matter if you batter rubbish teams, he can't beat the good ones and we have slip ups where we occasionally draw/lose to the rubbish like Wigan. Even this season we will probably get in and around the play offs but non of that matters as you face the good teams in those play offs thus we lose. This 50% nonsense he keeps coming out with (used to defend him on here multiple times) is an illusion, because the same style that opens those rubbish teams up is the same one that gets us dominated by those good teams. It's also the thing which causes those slip ups. Quote

Popular Post ianofcleveleys Posted December 18, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 18, 2024 Not surprised by the tone and thrust of her message, as ever it's well written and articulated. I'd interpreted her silence so far as an endeavour to maintain some dignity and measured approach. I didn't expect much else in all honesty than a supportive, 'bring us all back together' sort of line, otherwise it would go against all of the values and principles she's been keen to promote and instil from day one, which we all welcomed as a breath of fresh air at the outset. I can see why people might see it as soft or naive, and votes of confidence can be very short lived in football. Four games without a win over Xmas might make things difficult for her, as might a haemorrhage of interest in ST renewals if we're still stumbling along in mid table in Feb. But, it's clear now that she still believes in Evatt, will still back him at least to a degree in Jan and still believes that there's hope of a late run into contention even if we're still 10th in March. We've seen those runs put together ourselves and we've seen others do it, so I can see, up to a point, why she might hold onto that thought. I'm far from convinced myself that any of that will happen but I do understand the basis of why she has wanted to take the stance she has. There's a difference between understanding and agreeing, and going back to her as a custodian of our club, I still think well of the approach she's trying to take to running the club Quote
