The Queen

Seems to have taken a turn for the worse.

She is 96.

  • RIP. Very sad.  Whether you're Royalist, anti-Royalist or somewhere in between.  For the vast majority of us, she's been our Queen for all our lives.  Feels strange that it's no longer the case.

  • She did this. And she probably didn’t have to because she was the Queen. But she did. What a woman.

I’m old enough to remember Churchill’s funeral and remember my Dad being so proud that Royal Navy Servicemen were tasked with pulling the gun carriage with his coffin. He served during the war in the Navy.

It will be emotional for me to see them doing the same for the Queen. I’ll be watching.

I find it incredible that the Hall the Queen is now lying in is the same Hall both William Wallace and Guy Fawkes were tried and convicted in.

Some sensitive souls on here

The queue is actually a very amusing British staple and poking fun at it is equally British in its nature. It’s what we do.

My sister is down there today and rang me to say the atmosphere is amazing. London is buzzing yet reflective.

Like the monarchy or not, the Queen has most certainly brought the population out and she was clearly and deeply loved.

lets, for once, celebrate a harmless bit of fucking British eccentricity.

It'd just really fucking busy. Can everyone go back home now please? I've got to go in town tomorrow and I'd rather not.

12 hours queuing?

Can't help but think the Govt have missed a trick here, could have made fortunes selling fast pass tickets.

Oh the irony...

The same people who claim we're living in an era of woke culture & perpetually offended wet wipes.

The same people who would jump to defence of a Mohammed cartoonist in the face of death threats

Now in a state of absolute meltdown over a 'fuck the crown' banner & calling for them all to be banned. Jesus.

Everyone knew that there are anti-monarchists out there. You can't expect them just to disappear because the Queen has died. If anything they are bound to be more vocal during a period of transition to highlight the aspects they disagree with. Leave em to it, just ignore it. It's completely harmless, look at the queue's & the reaction of the public. There is still so much respect out there for the Queen & the Royal Family. Far more than I think anyone expected. Even folk on the middle ground like myself have found it moving at times.

What is there to get your Aussie Undies in a twist about?

Aussie undies? I shouldn't be surprised that a fucking tree hugger would offer scumbags like that tacit approval.

Define 'absolute meltdown'. I assume that you must be talking about the two presenters and not me? I posted two videos with no comment. Where is the twist you refer to in that post? Magic mushrooms omelette for breakfast?

A section of this clubs fans repeatedly disrespect Remembrance Day, glorify IRA murderers and, in days gone by, openly collected cash on the British mainland to support what they called 'The Provos'. This may sit well with the likes of you who associate with road blockers and disrupters of public transport. Not with me. They remain the absolute bottom of scum barrel for me with Liverpool, DMB's and a couple of despicable overseas clubs down there with them but with daylight second bottom.

There's a time and a place so I disagree that this is a time that they should voice their objections. No doubt these cunts who you are prepared to excuse have no problem collecting social security payments and the like which bear symbols of British state.

I was referring to the two presenters yes 👍 Though judging by the amount of hippy insults you've used in that post I think you're on the verge of one.

Of course there is a time & place.. Nobody is saying it was right thing to do. I'm only defending their right to do it. My response was to the presenters calling for a draconian ban as being an overreaction and hypocritical.

Funnily enough you could twist it both ways on that one. The Royal Family certainly doesn't have a squeaky clean history. Luckily we've the Queen and her family to thank for modernising & adapting to the times.

It also works both ways up here. Rangers fans loving the Queen doesn't excuse them from their anti Irish & Catholic singing. But you're happy to ignore that, clearly. Our own fans aren't squeaky clean either.

The argument that you have to support the Monarchy to use money & be part of society is pure nonsense. Up there with the daft argument that you shouldn't be taking the Bank Holiday if you disagree.

Hope you have a nice weekend fella, 3 points today🤞

The italicised part has me nonplussed - not for the first time with you. The argument is that they should be leeching on the Irish state and not the British one if they hate all things British as much as they claim. The famine's over =@

Yes, I forgive Rangers and their fans for almost anything. The most loyal of the loyal.

Anyway, at least we can agree on the last sentence matey. No doubt we will both be glued to the screen

Folk clinging on to the traditions and customs of the place of their origin.

Does that remind anybody of a certain trifle loving, bath towel wielding oap?

Just in green park laying flowers, have you done that yet, eh, Bolts?

I am bestest at grieving.

If you go home and make a massive trifle, it’s gonna be a whitewash.

Course you do matey. Rangers fans can often be heard singing about the famine to the majority of Celtic fans that don't subscribe to the views of the Green Brigade.

But you forgive them because they shout No Surrender & love the Queen. Welcome to Bolty's Bubble. A land where you have to love the Monarchy or else you can move to Ireland. Democracy at its finest.

Hopefully we'll have independence up here before too long. Maybe Rangers will join the English League then?

Wouldn't queue up myself for this- certainly not so long, but for those that feel compelled to, then fair play.

Why bother coming on a thread about it to tell everyone how shit it is...

(stolen from women's euros win thread)

I've just been advised I'm going to London tomorrow to have a look around. We're not going to queue to see the coffin, but we're going to the Palace and stuff apparently. We're also taking the dog, so that could be interesting...
