A load of lads falling out loosely over a sporting fixture, yet with a strong religious overtone - unlikely to ever be fixed, spilling over into violence?

If any palefaces did that we’d be going mental.

Listening to reports this morning. Apparently, he had served time for firearms offences, considered himself 'gangsta' (whatever that means) and the car had recently been identified as being involved in a shooting incident (drive by?).

Then I watched the BBC's coverage of the 'protestors' (read leftie 'rent a mob' latching on to criminals who want 'special treatment' by the police). They described him only as a 'trainee architect and a new father'.

GB News all the way for me from now on. The Trumpster was right about fake news.

What are they going to do when they've killed Cricket?

Just another quick Bolty fact check for ya folks....

The BBC have reported that...

'The IOPC said an Automatic Number Plate Recognition camera indicated the vehicle was linked to a firearms incident in the previous days.'

Mr Kaba's cousin Jefferson Bosela, 27, described the rapper as a "loving, good person".

Speaking to the BBC, he said: "I've put it out there he wasn't perfect… but regardless of that nobody deserves to be killed by the police unless there is an imminent or direct threat to the public, which at that moment in time, from what I'm hearing, he was not."

So, they have stated the background to the incident and interviewed family members rather than making a judgement (as Bolts does above) They offer no opinion in any of the online articles.

Oh and he was a member of a Drill crew - not sure that's enough to get someone shot though.

Indeed. Nowt like getting a fuller picture.

That said, some individuals on that channel are very much the mirror image of those they claim to want to fight back against. Plenty of screeching and bitching from some of them.

As for the Kaba case- why don't the bbc et al just report the shooting and leave it until after the investigation. As soon as journalists start digging deeper then they have to report all relevant facts and not just a selection.

Absolutely.

The reports of disgruntled officers extend beyond the met though- not surprising really.

That is excatly what they have done.

Days after they were revealed elsewhere.

Without reading any if them, is there any reporting of the bloke's criminal past?

Too often there appears to be a bias, intentional or not, with the met appearing to kowtow to certain groups and norms and plenty of media organisations following suit. Put both sides forward, or say nowt.

You can report facts on the BBC that's it, and that's what they have done. There is no opinion offered in any of those articles. If you are looking for confirmation basis of what you believe then yes, read opinion pieces from media that agrees with a certain personal position - whether this be The Mail or the Guardian.

Reporting a criminal past would constitute a bias as being shot does not relate to serving time, they only bring anything up when it is spoken by relatives. One may relate to another, but that isn't the job of an impartal state media broadcaster.

Its why they get it in the neck from the right for being too left, and the left for being too right. Emily Maitlis said this all so much better in her MacTaggart lecture in Edinburgh; about how the BBC does fail at times when trying to give balance and actually enables the view propogated by Bolty in his original post where simple reporting of facts are seen as a gap in reporting and lets opinion flood in...

“The larger the gap, in other words, that populists can create between recognisable media sources and the people, the less impeded they will be impeded by any scrutiny – any attempt to hold them accountable for the decisions they make in power.”

Its worth a listen if you haven't; https://www.indy100.com/politics/emily-maitlis-bbc-mactaggart-lecture

In the Ukraine thread you said the BBC shouldn't put both sides forward. See how tricky it is?

Bet that figure has increased a hell of a lot in the following 11 years

Whilst most Asians in Bolton are indeed from India they are predominantly Indian Muslims. Not sure which team they'd bat for but guessing it wouldn't be with Hindu's.

Also a mate in Police tells me it's feck all to do with Cricket. More to do with the situation in India where extreme Hindus have been attacking Muslims and got nasty on Social Media and spilled over here.

Not tricky at all. No surprise that you will claim it is.

One is an internal matter where full facts are achievable.

One isn't.

Given that RT was initially closed because of the work of the EU, then followed up by our government, have the EU acted wrongly?

We all know that the Russians are full of bollocks, we don't need to see it repeatedly. Especially when the twats are threatening nuclear strikes.

Might as well let that group that wants to allow adults to marry kids etc to have their space to promote their paedophilia, or allow Muslims to justify throwing gay folk off towers.

A line has to be drawn.

Within probably the last 10 years or so, its noticeable the number of what appear to be African migrants that have appeared around the top end of Breightmet. Never been the best of areas and now another potential problem has been created. Not that many in fairness at the moment and hopefully everything is OK, but without a doubt continued pressure on the area will result in future problems.

That's not the point being made though, is it? It's about reporting facts, in the sense of impartiality. Your examples of a line being drawn are not facts but views.

See, not that difficult at all, unless you miss the difference between facts/opinions and views.

So what you're saying is that either the Russian's are saying factually accurate things then, and that the BBC is reporting it, or that they are giving a platform to an extremist organisation that wishes us harm?

So, cut the patronising bollocks, it is quite clear there is a major difference. There is a reason why ISIS aren't given the same platform for example, or would that be OK too?

I wonder what you'd say if Tommy Robinson was given air time, or another group with perhaps more extreme views.

Like it or not we're effectively in a war with Russia. The physical bit by proxy, except when they poison people on our own shores of course. The rest, by state sponsored cyber attacks (with stations in various locations across Europe engaged in such activities) energy manipulation and food suppy cuts. Those are facts, not views.

During war, you don't give airtime to your enemy.

OK, I'll come to you for gardening, not media, advice.

I like you, and life is too short to get into an argument about this as we are talking at totally cross purposes.

Tommy Robinson has been on the BBC and many other media outlets plenty of times. That's how most people know who he is. Same goes for others with extreme views, including Islamic Fundamentalists, such as Anjem Choudary. Should Hitler's speeches have been censored from the British public in 1939?
