Problem is, if you offer too much and end up sending folk out with qualifications or a trade then isn’t there a danger folk will look for a cheaper option than the current higher education fees?

Are you mental? You think law-abiding citizens who want to go into Further Education are going to think "If I commit an offence bad enough to land me a prison sentence, I can get free education!"

Of course that isn’t what I’m saying but if one law abiding citizen goes through higher education and builds up a £35k debt for the pleasure gets out the other side with a qualification and the other non-law abiding citizen goes in nick, gets his head down and comes out with a similar qualification, then it’d certainly fuck the system up a bit.

That would prove the system was working, surely? Unless you'd rather criminals come out of prison only to offend again?

I am not sure that would work out that way to be honest. Not much else to add.

Longer sentences that are served to completion

The sentences for Sex offenders and nonces are the biggest joke in this country.

Most caught with images and stuff dont even get sent down.

Lads getting 15 streches for selling bing and you've got nonces looking at children getting a nice flat in Blackpool.

That’s bollocks.

All the nice flats are in Lytham.

Having a scrap within 10 miles of a football ground on a Saturday gets you in more trouble than molesting kids.

Country's fucked.

I was more talking rehabilitation for their head rather than showering them with qualifications. The idea that folk would try and get into prison because their fees are too high doesn't add up for me though.

Norwegian prison system priorities rehabilitation and has one of the lowest reoffending rates in Europe.

Obviously, each crime is different and for some they need to stay behind bars.

Rehabilitation will only go so far though, these people need skills to make them employable, or they end up on benefits, with low self esteem and potentially end up back inside.

Some sort of work experience and skills inside would help with a sense of self worth, understanding team working, avoiding boredom etc.

Not an easy thing to sort for sure.

Quite a utopian view that mate.

Aim high mate!

Of course things are easier said than done, but the re-offending rates are high as things are, and there doesn't seem to be a solution.

I ofter think of the post industrial river banks round here, and wonder why can't these guys be used for dragging shit out of the Croal etc: rig them up some equipment for getting down bankings, get them a skip etc and see how many tyres, supermarket trolleys and bits of wood and plastic they get out. When it's done, the lads can see the benefits of their efforts- must be better than moping about doing fuck all.

Beyond belief that you can get caught with images and avoid a sentence. You're a part of the problem and in the same league as the perpetrators.

Same with Bing. Folk like to turn a blind eye though - taking it to a game and moaning about how London is lost whilst contributing to the problem. Countless kids are killed and abused in the industry.

.....if they legalised it, all that would stop.

Fighting a losing battle.

Not so sure.

Still be an blackmarket in cheaper stuff, just like with fags.

Criminal gangs will still want to make money.

fkin state of these lot! What’s wrong with our police? In the post on the covid thread you could see 2 coppers stood there like melons whilst being threatened with arrest and here we have coppers just stood watching these unwashed freaks bring parts of London to a standstill.

I have worked in the criminal justice system since 1987 (over 35 years) and can honestly say it's fucked, I'm now in probation so seeing the other side which is every bit as bad, whichever department you work in the criminal justice system your hands are tied by red tape and bureaucracy

My brother was in the probation service for a while, and had similar opinions.

What a joke. The police should simply wander off for a donut and a coffee for ten minutes once F Troop and The Treatment are in position just around the corner.

When they return, the only problem would be getting the odd red stain off the tarmac.

This is a mate of mine. There’s no way he was every handing keys over.

He won’t have taken too kindly to the attack and would’ve fancied himself in a scrap without the knives.

Heard who it was, they should have stabbed him up some more, what a prick he is. Also, not a fighter, he’d get banjoed by anyone over the age of 10.

The old man should have been stabbed some more?

You and Royal should start your own thread for this one fella. You both clearly have a fetish for fantasying over tougher policing on the swampy brigade.

Tougher policing, end of.

Yep, and more time on the job and not on paperwork, or pointless tasks.

Glad you both agree that our Police force isn't working and needs funding properly. 12 years of being cut to the bone is bound to cripple any Public Service.
