It's the police, the social workers, the community leaders that didn't handle the complaints of the girls correctly. They allowed the situations to flourish by turning a blind eye, siding with the beasts involved and taking the easy option in ignoring what everyone knew was going on. Then we have the whole cover up and sweeping under the carpet of how those situations were handled. If the last inquiry didn't go far enough for some, why not have another that does? Heads should have rolled for what happened. It took a whistle blower to kick things off in the first place. I just don't get the opposition to another big inquiry. If they wanted one to investigate kids on county lines or rent boys in London would anyone oppose it?

If they wanted one to investigate kids on county lines or rent boys in London would anyone oppose it? They can have another one for me, I'm certainly not opposed to it But what should the outcome be? We know what's happened in the past regards cover ups etc, we even had an itv drama from it If we've learned from it and deal with it better now, then great We see a lot of gangs periodically getting caught and arrested far more than we used to Unless things are still getting covered up or not being taken seriously what's the point? If there are ways to improve the process from an initial complaint being made, being taken seriously and progressing quicker, great Would like to think that's already been covered though and needs implementing if not already So aye For me, genuine question, what does the outcome of another enquiry need to be, what would justify it, why is it necessary?
January 20, 20251 yr All very valid questions. It's just sad and probably a reflection on our current set of politicians that run our country. Using the sexual abuse of hordes of teenage girls for political point scoring.
January 20, 20251 yr I'm still confused why nobody was this outraged in 2022 when the Jay Inquiry was released, and it was completely ignored??

But the antidote to that would be the government getting on with putting the previous national inquiries recommendations into legislation would it not? If we accept that no politician has done nearly enough. The two that have done the most both are in the Labour government and both are the ones taking the most flak. Which I think becomes problematic if we let reality become so distorted. I think it’s absolutely fine to say that in general not enough has been done but those that have done the most should be listened to.

If they wanted one to investigate kids on county lines or rent boys in London would anyone oppose it? I have no objections to another inquiry. Im as sickened and fed up as anyone else about the gangs. As I say, I gave me thoughts a while back and was told to stop being a massive racist because I singled out the Pakistani community in particular as producing an appalling number of rapists. However, there has been an inquiry but that seems to be getting dismissed or ignored and it’s a bit weird. My point is that an inquiry should be held into every grooming gang and every council that let it happen. If my daughter had been a victim, I would want to burn the rapist regardless of his background. As for being described as vermin, well I can only assume that asking for Brexit benefits makes me a rat. I can’t do anything to help there I’m afraid.
January 20, 20251 yr Has anyone actually read the Jay report or at least bits of it? All looks like a big pile of generic waffle to me and fuck all was done after the recommendations. Even Jay herself says the communities need to do more. Maybe we need and inquiry about the inquiry

January 20, 20251 yr how about we just say its only muslims of pakistani origin and just move on (its not, but the usual suspects TM will then have their blood) i heard a girl - i think shes now about 30 - on the radio and she didn't really want to go through it all again, but i don't think anybody really cares what the victims want

January 20, 20251 yr The Southport knife murderer has pleaded guilty on the first day of his trial (putting the victims/families of the victims through the torment of having to prepare themselves for the prospect of a trial and giving evidence only to then drop it right before it's due to begin) He'll be sentenced on Thursday

January 20, 20251 yr This discussion is actually as pointless as the calls for another national inquiry. I'm still really baffled as to as Cheese says why there wasn't this outcry in 2022 (well not baffled as such, more confused that people can be so easily whipped up) and people not understanding what an inquiry is, does and how to enact findings. But everyone is an expert these days. Certainly at who can be the most angry, offended and be so black and white about it (sickening etc etc) The Conservatives were calling for this as an opportunistic populist political issue (which seems to have worked on some) people like Burnham have rejected this but said maybe a smaller commission that would bring together some of the Jay Reports findings with more legal powers to get people into the inquiry could help, and many feel there is enough already been done to put legislation into practice to ensure this doesn't happen again begining with the government to begin to implement the report's call for mandatory reporting of child sexual abuse which is the key point of the report in the crime and policing bill to be put before parliament in early spring. It's not as exciting as calling for heads to roll and the frenzy around another inquiry. What it's is is getting on with the work of implementing the recommendations that will lead to a more robust system giving greater protection to vulnerable young women.
