Ask you're grandparents or Mum & Dad what you've asked me.

They'll give you a answer

You probably won't though because deep down you know 👍🏻

All dead I’m afraid

It’ll be quiet on here this morning whilst everyone’s at church. ️

It’s Easter bonnets. Who the fuck is offended by them. it’s some kids getting some chocolate.

Really isn’t going to be much left If it carries on.

Shit like this helps the reform vote as well. Things like this help a party with one policy gain more momentum.

The how many people go to church debate is a daft one. Like asking how many Celtic/Rangers fans rock up on a Sunday.

Correct

it is daft

But people like 84 seem to get awfully wound up when you hold the mirror to it. Guilt, maybe. That’s for him to figure out.

And the whole reason “Christian values in the UK” is a debate is because “other cultures” are seemingly taking over here.

The second biggest religion in the UK now is Islam, and it’s only getting bigger. Look at the outcry up in the lakes because they want to build a mosque. Supply and demand.

When was the last time a new church was built in the north west? Genuine question as I have no idea.

The church thing is a different debate for me. This is something we traditionally do with our kids who like eating some chocolate at the end.

The bit I find ridiculous is that someone has thought that somebody would be offended by this, so we best not do it. Only someone who is offended on somebody else’s behalf could get to this square.

Going back to the church thing I see it a bit like people who like a beer but don’t go to the pub as much. Their beer love isn’t dying so much but they do it differently now. People can hold values at home and around without going to church. Like lots of people can work and not be in an office. I’d suggest (apologies if wrong as I don’t know) but Christian is still higher than atheist on the census etc.

Amen

Yes, when people refer to Britain being a Christian country I often think what they really mean is that it's a country shaped by Christian teaching, which is correct

I'd also agree with your point about offence

It seems to me a lot of this kind of thing comes from middle-class, liberal people rather than the supposed offendee

Miss Mander (I’m guessing is English and white to keep the easily offended happy) has decided to knock Easter on the head this year. Her school will however  celebrate refugee week in June.

In the spirit of inclusivity and respect for diverse religious beliefs, instead of doing nothing, why don't they do something for everyone?

Have your Easter bonnet parade and get everyone involved

Then do the same for the other religions

I think the teachers probably don't want to get involved with the Muslim and Jewish stuff so are spoiling it for everyone

I will admit though that I never really understood why Christingle was a thing and I'd do away with that

Easter has fuck all to do with religion.

It's about kids getting chocolate eggs, celebrating spring and every fucker getting two bank holidays and hopefully sitting in a beer garden.

Because then GBNews would screech about "Islam being forced on British school chidren". Better just to sack the lot off entirely and let parents decide how they celebrate in their own time.

Who gives a fuck? The less religious bollocks and indoctrination in school the better imo.

Drop Christmas too.

Then make sure there are no celebrations of ANY religious events, cultures, minorities etc.

Ban all Easter eggs and chocolate, ban Halloween and pumpkins, ban fireworks and all public gatherings.

Country will become far more productive as several bank hollidays will no longer be required.

Or simply accept, that the country is Christian based, but one built on freedom of expression and religious belief.

I'm far from a believer, but the overuse of DEI and similar attitudes is puritanical. Hopefully it's just a slow passing fad.

For many it isn't.

For many, it is.

That wasn't the reason for the letter though.

What a screeching drama queen.

I have spent and still do, spend a lot of time in the Czech Republic. They are largely either atheist or agnostic. Very few are practicing Christians. They do have a tradition of Christianity though and it’s there for all to see in their cathedrals, churches, statues and traditions, especially at Christmas and Easter. They really make a show of it. It’s part of their culture, history and identity. Same with many other Central and Eastern European nations.

Kids will be happy that they get to celebrate refugee week instead

Good point. Let's hope the dumb fucks continue with it then.

Aye. FFS don't let Winchester White join the fun police.

Yep. Give them all a pound coin, a small toy plastic house and a small fake GHIC card to make the celebration more meaningful.

Cardboard cut outs of Gary Lineker too.

The school celebrates  Eid and Diwali, how is that inclusive of all the other kids?

The teacher knows what’s she’s doing here and to be fair she’s doing a good job of it.

Is it a predominantly Muslim attended school?

Doesn't matter does it?

Lad's primary was very largely white, British.

Still looked at Diwali etc.

Either do them all, or none, but don't be ashamed of what our country was founded on.

But if it's a predominantly Muslim school nobody will be arsed about an Easter Bonnet.

Not saying it's right like. But are the kids bothered if they're all Muzzies?

I'd rather Islam didn't exist like.

To be fair, the way to be inclusive is to just recognise other events as well. Not stop what already exists.

If you've got a lot of Muslims in the school, then have stuff in place to support any that are fasting and have an Eid event at the end. It's about doing more, not cancelling other stuff.

There will be a big overreaction to this, but stopping the event isn't the right thing to do. Up to the Headteacher and parent council to decide though.
