They aren't legally binding, and disputes are settled according to UK law.

This however, misses the entire point.

They are based around religious/social beliefs and as such, pressure from with the community will sway how people behave according to its recommendations. 

Under no circumstances should any other system be allowed to operate in addition to basic uk law.
