Quitting the booze

Allen Carr (not the goofy “comedian”) writes books about how to stop drinking and/or smoking.

My sister read it a few years back and, whilst she want a full on alky, was overdoing the booze.

After reading this book, she hasn’t touched a drop since. Not one.

So, as a challenge, I said I’d read the book and prove that this kind of thing doesn’t really work and that she was just ready to stop anyway.

about 2 weeks ago, I reached just over the halfway point. Since then, I’ve probably had 2 pints and one glass of wine, none of which I particularly enjoyed.

I’m annoyed for several reasons:

* I adore a drink, and I feel the pleasure has been stolen from me

* My sister was right and I was wrong about the book

* I feel somehow invaded by this author who I never invited into my life in the first place.

* I want a beer, but don’t want a beer. It’s fucking WEIRD.

I need help in getting back on the horse.

Im not going to preach, but if you really want to kick the booze (he does fags as well), then I’m here to tell you, brothers and sisters, that this fucker works.

Aye not touched a drop since new year.

Kind of annoyed Ive got a do to go next week that's going to break it.

I am 2 weeks in now, trying not to booze until April.

gym 3 times a week and done about 80km in 2 weeks waddling.

hopefully have the diet sorted by middle of next week. Boredom in work is making it a struggle

Not done dry jan but been to the gym 5 times a week and started doing 10km on the rower each time - blimey you know you've done exercise after that. Hope it helps losing the weight!

Oh bless you....I like pointing out your stupidity when I'm sober as.

Last night was a lot of fun watching you get tied up in knots.

on the home straight now

was much easier than I thought it would be

roll on Friday

things I've learnt about not drinking:

1) I gamble more, up to a decent ACCA yesterday was a terrible month

2) I snack more, only lost 5 pounds

will look to address those things in February

Food free February. I wouldn’t if I were you.

30 days down. 70 to go.

Ive been invited on several drinking escapades during February and March so bigger tests lie ahead than January, which was relatively easy.

In conjunction with Wet Feb

Fell off the wagon in TGI friday on Saturday. 4 pints of moretti in about 40 mins.

That meant I couldn't wait to get on the ale yesterday.  Enjoyed the morettis but the countdown to more ale yesterday was shit.

Dehydrated and cant be arsed today.

I haven't had 1 dry day this month, or last month or the month before that and next month won't be dry either

First beer of the year

Cheers

I can now tell the difference between Buxton, Highland Spring, Evian and tap water in a blind taste test.

HS is best. Buxton second. Evian 3rd(much too soft a texture)

Tap water smells like a warm puddle.

isn't it supposed to look like that on it's way out of your body?

Anyone ever struggled sleeping when not boozing. I am told I should feel great but I feel worse than ever

Aye

The first weekend was tough but I knew I wouldn't crumble

However

All I could think about was counting down the days and how long It actually was

I was constantly looking forward to it but in a driven to distraction type of way

Couldn't be doing with 100 days

Sorry everyone, but for me, everything about in that pic is wrong.

It's a can, it's cloudy and it's in a vase.
