  1. http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wande...h_needed_goals/ Chris Evans thoughts on our new striker.
  2. Hope so, you just feel a couple of final day signings, would give the club a much needed boost
  3. While I disagree with your opinion, I think you put your opinion across sensibly, with some valid points and for me it's pretty clear you are not in the "Mugson, Ginger Wanker Bracket" The reason I disagree is I think we will only progress with stability and consistency. Since BSA and the the short reign of Sammy Lee, the club has needed a complete overhall, both on the pitch and behind the scenes. I am not trying to say that we are in a fantastic position or that Megson is Mr Persona and the answer to all our problems, far from it, but he has done what has been asked of him, keeping us up, he has made some astute signings ( I know also some questionable, but doesn't every manager?) and established players have signed contract extensions as well as buliding a good (not excellent yet) backroom team. IMO to de-stabalise this, with a knee jerk reaction, for me would cause us more problems than letting the team , management and backroom staff battle this out. It may be another struggle with possibly a mid table finish if we get our act together. While this isn't good enough for many it's good enough for me. Come on you Whites!
  4. http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wande...o_striker_deal/ Similar story in the BN this morning Although this could mean there is no substance to it whatsoever
  5. I was lucky enough to go to the oval on Sunday - what a fantastic day. Makes you proud to be English, great effort, bring it on down under in 16 months!
  6. Manchester evening news reckons we have tabled a 10.2 million bid for Veloso http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/spo...tracking_veloso BN was saying this morning that Sean Davis will turn down Portsmouths new offer and sign for us.
  7. Not according to William Hague yesterday who clearly stated that there wouldn't be a National Referendum - not like politicians and parties to change their mind eh?
  8. I had a brief chat with a guy of this description while watching the Mather v Nicholson game. If so you made me spit my beer out when questioned by the Bolton Hospice bird selling charity tickets whether you would like to "buy a book for a fiver?", and you you mischievously replied "would like to buy a what?" while scrambling around to get your fiver out. She eventually clicked the joke with the rhyming connotation of "book" and was suitably embarrassed! It was a great match and a great night, hope it does stay at the Reebok, would certainly look at getting there again next year.
  9. Come on, looking forward to this first visit to the darts! I see that the beer is nothing to shout about then? Is it a bit of a nightmare getting served as well? Do they serve it up in jugs or is it individual pints? Cheers
  10. The BN are "guessing" its either Morrison (WBA) or Davis (Sean - Portsmouth)
  11. Reading in todays Mail, Davies Tops the league for both Most fouled 101 and Fouls committed 115.
  12. Interseting to hear Jeff Stelling and the crew taliking about "Flops" this season, amongst that list was our very own Johan Elmander - bit harsh to be labelled a flop I feel. But another indication to highlight he certainly hasn't had a good season! Let's hope he proves this lot and plenty of others wrong next season - would be nice to finish the season off with a goal tomorrow.
  13. desperado replied to a post in a topic in Terrace Talk - 'Classics'
Me too. Every other car had some scarf or flag flying from the windows. I hope they do it, would love to see em beat bastud rovers in the battle of the dingles next year! It would be another away must for next season, seen us play there 3 times and win every time, good memories.
  14. 2 -2 Late goal from us, to send us all away feeling happy and positive about next season............................
  15. As a group of family and friends we could be increasing by up to 8. Great effort from the club - to think Aresnal are charging on average ?1000 for a prem season ticket.
  16. Looking forward to Sunday! Plenty of support for the whites. Let's all get behind the team AND Megson
  17. Sounds like we have had many a similar conversation. One of the lads in the pub introduced me to someone last week and said, "here's a guy who loves Megson"
  18. Unfortunately I think it is. And it seems not only consumed by it but completely irrational and unrealistic to boot as well. So much so that I find myself backing and supporting him to the extreme in many a conversation because there is so much unecessary anti-feeling towards him.
  19. Great post that. I think we defintely stick with him next year, beacuse I do think, with a good pre season, some creative addition to mid-field and an injury free run behind him he can become the consistent goalscorer (10-15 goals) we need. My worry is if he doesn't find his goalscoring touch have/will we have enough goals in the team? 8 million these days for a striker isn't a massive amount of money - although its a lot for BWFC and the unfortunate comparison with Anelka will be made. But we have to accept he is a different player and we have to learn to play to his stengths. In answer to what should have happened this year, you are absolutely right there hasn't been much of an alternative!
  20. Garrp you asked me what does Davies offer that Elmander Doesn't and I answered it. So I ask again next season are we looking for another striker to complement Elmander, or do we look to play both Elmander and Davies in the same team?
  21. Bloody Hell, if you continue to be so iconsistent this thread will go on for another 10 pages! One post you ask me what does Davies offer and when I reply you tell me I don't need to tell you what Davies does! Make your mind up! So if Elmander isn't going to score goals consistently, for you is it a staright choice between Elmander and Davies next year, or do you play both?
  22. The thing with Elmander is that we haven't seen enough of him, even you who has seen so much football, in order to work out what his strengths are to BWFC on a consistent basis. And Consistency is the key word, because while he has shown glimpses of the attributes SKD (don't you just love that song, that makes him all the player he is for me) has, there is no way you can compare a seasons contribution between the 2. And if you really need me to spell out what SKD provides every game to bwfc, for starters you can include, Strength, committment, leadership, application, adaptability to play all across the front line and goal assists. All of which he does on a consistent basis. Goals are a bonus when you have so much to offer. And I would be as complementary about Elmander if he did all those things every game - but didn't we buy him as a goalscorer to complement Davies?
  23. Of course he did and for most seasons he has been at Bolton. We know exactly what Davies offers EVERY game for Bolton - surely your not making the same comparisons to Elmander this season?
  24. Now Then Now then Boys Surely the reality on this issue is somehere in the middle of your points of view. Yatesy we surely have to allow time into next season to potentailly see if we can buy in some more creativity to bring out the best in Elmander and help him find some of that form we saw earlier in the season when goalscoring didn't look difficult. As has been pointed out many a good premiership player took more than a season to settle, especially when it has been so injury hit. But Garrp to go the extremes of suggesting he has had a good season is surely stretching it too far. I don't care how many games anybody goes to, to make that judgement would be wholly inaccurate. He has occasionally shown good touches, finishing and workrate, but surely if Yatesy can concede the above paragraph, you surely have to revise your thoughts on what constitutes a good season?
  25. You can interpret the article as you want but i think Elmander readily admits his first season hasn't been good enough. As for Yatesy, I wish he'd stop going on about how he thinks Smolarek and Makka Pakka should have been paired up front
