I've always thought Charles was this generations David Reeves, and their records are pretty similar for us remarkably. DR 134/46 DC 122/45 Personally I think he is part of the reason we are still in this division. His all round play is awful, his finishing is so/so at best, and has no brain either. Yet because he runs about people fawn over him?? So he scored 20 goals, a better striker may have got 30 it's all relative. So if we replace him with this generations Andy Walker who is going to complain?. Charles will be remembered as much for his misses as goals. I will concede the timing give the pressure Evatt is under and buying team dont do us many favours, but is what it is. Until we know the replacement it's all guesswork really.

I can't help We will have all known managers in our working life who most people think are bone but senior managers think they're wonderful. Often because they plug a knowledge gap so become indispensable to senior execs who are too far removed from the coal face and feel vulnerable (never admit this obviously) Rarely are these people the 'best' managers, for either the organisation or the people below them, and this feels very similar.

Sharon clearly got the measure of Keith Hill pretty quickly and lost no sleep over potting him. He actually sounded pretty logical in his views on the team and the issues on GMR, which is saying something! So that said, Evatt has to be in the same moomin territory now as Hill ended up, and a decision was made then?

Had a nice drive to Exeter today to drop the lad back of at Uni. Got more frustrated thinking about things while he was kipping on the M5 than I did watching it yesterday. With regards to mental fragility thing, in any normal organisation as a senior manager you would be dragged in eventually if all you staff were failing to deliver their objectives because of your strategy, and getting work related stress because of you!! If he tightened up at the back, got a few boring 0-0s if needed, generate a resilience then move back on to the attacking bit, I'm certain the players would respond. BSA did this several times in the Prem when we were in the middle of a bad run. Not Evatt, just throws a strop and insists he's right! He is thin skinned, not half as intelligent as he thinks he is, and has an ego clearly too big for his receipts!! It seems most teams in this division, certainly in and around mid table an up, can play 'football' just as well as us. Some may more be more direct, but all seems to have players with a touch and ability to move the ball quickly easily as good as ours, yet that's meant to be our USP?? And yet again, why do we have to isolate Santos all the time to facilitate this Evatt style of play, if we were scoring shit loads of goals we could afford a few slip ups, but we don't and struggle to create as many chances as other teams playing with a conventional 4 at the back. The risk v reward isn't even close. Just sack the guy now, it's embarrassing.

It's as it's always been, Evatt rarely gets more out the sum of the parts of our team, more often farl ess. Successful managers add value to the collective, does Evatt?? I don't think he ever has, I think loads of managers could have got us out of the 4th division. Since then we have flattered to deceive, with more of the better times driven by players we don't own, Trafford, Bradley, Maghoma. Now he has an average squad (why is another question!) is he gonna do a Paul Warne set us up to get results by hook or by crook for promotion?? Is he fuck, so just get rid. The frustrating thing is all these tactical failings have been there always, he has just had decent players to mask it. However, no longer is the case it seems. Pressure is a privilege Ian, remember!

And this is it, I said to our group two seasons ago I didn't want to finish in the play-offs as we can never trust them. So for me it was automatic or bust. Two seasons later, we have a worse squad but the same failings are there. I'm not sure what can now happen for Evatt for anybody to not have that nagging doubt they are gonna bottle it at some point!!

I agree, but as players why would you put up with being sent out to fail, as some stage there has to be some challenge to your manager that their tactics ideas are not getting the desired results!!! Unless they are all yes men!

Surely as a squad, the players may be having similar thoughts about Evatt as we are; is he all that, are his tactics bollx?? Maybe not verbally, or consciously even for some; but a sa collective our initial reaction to shit their pants at the first sign of adversity is very telling. They know how hard it is for us to play the way he wants to get back into games , when teams just sit deep. We've got a talented squad but it feels miles away from a Rioch or Allardyce team of grit, determination and flair when needed. I've always doubted him, imagine he is an arse to work for, and thought the matches in the 4th division flattered to deceive and got pelters for voicing that then. However, I still want him to succeed as I do think he has the clubs interest at heart, but by fuck is he a slow learner at times. I was convinced the last goal against Hudds would be his epitaph, and what an ironic way to go. However he is still here, picking up results, having a few lucky breaks chucked in; all we need now is performances to pick up over 90 mins. Wouldn't suprise me if we did go up this season somehow, despite it maybe being our worst of the last 3. It's a funny old game and Evatt is a contrary fucker, so let's see.

I don't disagree, but the soft arse was a delivery driver before he signed for us! Think he'd be glad of a decent contract! I think the fact he crumbles under pressure and takes his bat and ball home explains a lot about his unfulfilled career.

What a weird game. Personally, I thought the inverted wing backs worked, a bit rusty obviously, but the potential is there for me. The ability for Schon and Dacres-Cogley to hook the ball into space with their good foot for strikers on diagonal runs, while facing their own goal and close to the touchline is a good option. Also Tutus run at the end towards goal wouldn't have happend on the other side as would 9/10 gone on the outside, and occasionally when our wingbacks do come inside they are on their wrong foot. I liked it, and Saka seems to do ok for Arsenal on the right despite being all left foot. Vic is the most infuriating player ever, but glad he got a goal, and taking Collins off was the right decision. And for as bad as Vic was at times, he still linked up the play as much as Charles would if he had started. Over 90mins we deserved to win that match easily, but it was getting tetchy in that mid section!

His Post match comments are unfathomable as he refers to things that he has direct control over, and can change. He talks like he has watched it on iFollow and has no ability to impact proceedings!! If they not doing what you want, fuckin tell them Ian, don't come moaning to us later. I was at a NHL ce Hockey game in the US and one of the players got sin binned or such like, none of the Yanks really understood why, and I certainly didn't. Anyway it got announced he had been reprimanded for 'embellishment'!! I don't think it very common in Ice Hockey given the local's reaction, but thought it was a great word for it!!

Skim reading this highlights a reason why we are where we are. We are too reliant on individual skill/talent/level of performance in certain positions the way we play, Evatt never gets more than the some of the parts, generally less in my opinion. Which lets be honest, is what sorts the good managers from the bad.

And shipped out Morley who is playing 90 mins regular for a team who will go second if they win their game in hand. Morley did have a dip on form but clearly has ability, shipping him out is gonna come back and haunt us too I feel.
