Agreed, but, few years ago, my old fella was leaving a pub and came across two scrotes kicking an old man on the ground in the ginnel near the house and saw them rifle his pockets and take his wallet, he then knocked the sh?t out of them and took the wallet back and looked after the old man, unknown to him a resident who heard the commotion had phoned the police, up shot of the events was, old man still had his wallet and was too scared to say anything and probably couldn't identify the muggers, my dad was arrested, charged and found guilty of assault and GBH on the two scrotes, who also got compensation for their "distress" and injuries. view of the law changed that day,and my opinion on what to do in a similar situation. the old fella says he'd still do the same again but i'd think twice to be honest.

plug a radio in up there, on a talking channel, doesnt need to be loud so you can hear it downstairs, just on at low volume, along with some of your old clothes to create a scent, this'll scare em off. then you'll need to find how they got there and block up the entrance. other than that garden centres have sonic repellants but the radio will do the same job.
