  1. FFS don't know how it escaped my attention that the fight has been made at 152. The usual bullshit from Floyd, he'll never just leave the playing field even.

Very much so and I think they have a look at more players than ever (at younger ages too) nowadays.
  3. Went in the Dukesgate in Little Hulton a while back and a young lad, friend of a friend, showed me a stab wound in the belly he'd got the night before in the Brass Handles. Don't think he'd had it treated, wasn't TOO bad but it was still a knife in the belly whichever way you look at it. He was very matter of fact about it all. What was even worse, he told me once he'd scarpered from the pub the police saw him nearby, bloody t shirt and all. Stopped him, said 'have you been fucking about in there?' (i.e. the Brass Handles) and told him to clear off before exiting the scene themselves.
  4. Watched quite a lot of kids football watching my nephew play for North Walkden around Salford The vast majority of people watching etc are totally sound, even some of the REAL rough teams/characters, with their bull terriers on the sidelines! I've seen very little harassment of the ref, each other etc. On the coaching bit though, the kids don't do anywhere near enough technique work IMO. Learning about match situations can come later and your nous develops as your mind matures. But first touch, control, short and first time passing, jockeying, volleying, shooting, if you get those fundamentals instilled into you then you can achieve anything. If you don't you will always be limited. When I've watched kids play it's all very much tactical, where to stand, what to do with the ball. They'd be better served working on their technique.
  5. Was the 3-3
  6. They are facing a $1.6bn fine in the States I believe over bad mortgages. Front page story on today's FT. Maybe that was it
  7. Without being sarcastic, just eat properly. It needn't be rocket science either. Given you're English you probably need to eat less carbohydrate, drink less alcohol and sugary drinks, eat more veg. You probably get too little protein, but that varies from person to person, depends how much meat is in your diet already. And it sounds like you don't plan to exercise - you'll only achieve so much through diet. You need to get both right or you're pissing in the wind.
  8. Macklin has never been world class for me but he is game, tough, and gives it a go. But Golovkin picked him apart with surgical precision. He's a special fighter.
  9. PN was more novel for me and had more actual gags, even though the Office ushered in (as far as I knew anyway) the 'mockumentary' style, so was pretty unique itself. Loved both but Phoenix nights was just more nutty, gobsmacking and despite being OTT in parts, actually it was quite believable, we've all known those types of characters. I've had the argument before that I just don't think people outside the north quite 'get it' on the same level. Doesn't mean they can't like it but I think they view it on a different level.
  10. I'm loving this fight, brilliant news, I didn't think Floyd would risk it. Would've cost an absolute packet for tickets anyway - they've probably done you a favour!
  11. 12 years isn't THAT bad for it to be ready for replacing - depends what type it is! Why replace it then buddy if it's basically working?
  12. Just had a quote down south £2,100 - boiler cost was £1200, scale inhibitor + gadget £75, flue kit £150 ish So £600-700 in labour which is still a tidy sum Some other monkey quoted me £2,700, so about £1,300 labour for what could be a (long) one day job. Told him to sling his hook, and he came back practically begging for the job, said he could do it for £2k due to changing to a different supplier. Basically admitting he'd been attempting to overcharge me on what his bottom line was to the tune of £700. These people must think you are fucking stupid.
  13. Purdy missed weight last time out too. They do fight at extremely low weights for their bodies now they are on day before weigh ins which allow them to rehydrate for 24 hours afterwards. Routinely stick a stone on in the 24 hours afterwards. But there's a point where they just cannot do that weight any more Maggie - I think Alvarez makes Floyd break sweat at 154... would be amazed if Floyd took the fight though, especially at 154 - or he'll take it later when Alvarez is tighter at the weight. He'll not fight him on a level playing field anyway. Was impressed by Alvarez last time out, kinda wondered what the fuss was about previously. What do you reckon?
  14. Who would they have to pay the tax to?
  15. He never won the European Cup so he certainly didn't make them the biggest in Europe. He unarguably laid the foundations but Clough's achievements are so startling you simply can't put Shankly ahead of him.
  16. I've not heard much mention of this but Moyes is also a cheap option compared to a big name, especially as he's out of contract anyway. Will he be able to force the Glazers into big signings... no way.

Totally agree, I think a lot of managers - Mourinho for one - would know better than to get involved in that scenario And at the first hint of trouble the fans will be saying 'get Fergie back involved, even just for a few games' It's got all the lovely ingredients for a disaster
  18. exiledwhite2 replied to anewman's topic in Terrace Talk
Apparently so - but Moyes coming in, and Rooney asking to leave, seems to suggest the Moyes thing is deffo true, has been lined up for a little while, and that they haven't made up I like Moyes but I think he will be a bad appointment, mainly because Fergie hanging around will not help one bit. Here's hoping!
  19. Please, please let the early 70s happen all over again, there are enough parallels and Fergie hanging around upstairs is precisely what is needed to destabilise things
  20. Haha fuck off! Moyes will get this gig I think, or a shock appointment like Giggs. Maybe Blanc. Jose is going to Chelsea. Whoever is going to get it, is already in place.
  21. Hated the prick anyway, always moaning how shit it was at the Reebok when he did our games This whole saga is absolutely terrible
  22. Was a really, really good full back at his best, one of the top 3 or 4 in the premier league IMO Good luck to him
  23. What are you counting Little Hulton as?! I live in London and had a weird experience last night at 5 a side. Met a young lad who was a Bolton fan (we both had Bolton shirts on) but he was from down here. His family are from Nelson, Burnley fans, but his first ever game was BWFC and he stuck with us. Think he said he's only missed 6 games this season home and away!
  24. I've hoped we'd make it for a while but this is the first time I've had any, well, belief I think millwall will do us a favour tomorrow and we will have it in our own hands v Blackpool If we squeak in, I'm sure everyone agrees, we will be hard to stop in the play offs
  25. In my era they were alright. I knew one of them vaguely, an lh lad, in my experience they didn't want the aggro. Only ever saw one kick off in there but it was a belter, fuck me, chairs round heads the lot, everyone just formed a huge circle watching it. Proper going for it. I also knew a lad from lh who worked the doors at the boardwalk in Manchester. I went in, had some bits and bobs in my possession, and just as I thought phew I'm in, this giant bouncer accosted me with a hand on the shoulder, worrying. Was a lad I went to school with thank fuck. Downside was he kept making me chat to him while he was on duty on the stairs or whatever because he was bored. End of the night there was a fight and he literally threw some rasta bloke through the saloon doors and down the stairs! As I left the guy was outside waiting for the other bloke hed been fighting with, steam coming out of his ears!
