As well as Big Sam, Jussi was there, eating and drinking like there was no tomorrow, a few others from that time, Muamba and most of the first team squad.

For all his years service, he should have been offered at least another 1 year playing contract and a job on the coaching staff

Maybe Gardner was simply grateful to the club for taking a chance on him and giving him a long, well paid career with some magical moments along the way .... rather than making out he'd been doing the club a huge favour.
