2025 Holidays

So where’s everyone going?

St. Ives, Cornwall booked for early June.

Contemplating some winter/Easter sun.

We’ve sadly had to let our caravan go in Snowdonia, so won’t be having our usual few weeks there.

  • Probably the right place to share a tale from our French trip that morphs into a recommendation. Armistice Day is a bank holiday in France and the commemorations are always on the 11th, not the S

Imagine, a seaside town in Spain being full of Spaniards.

Last January I went with MrsD and once bored with €3 for 2 pints of San Miguel we started to frequent a very Spanish bar which wasn’t a ‘tourist’ bar. It was right outside our hotel and only had Spaniards plus me and MrsD bin it. They loved that we’d gone in and eaten their food and drank their vino and beers.

I’d absolutely go again and stay away from the tourist areas.

Many years ago we hired a villa in a little town not far from Javea. While the little un was asleep in his pram we popped into a local boozer for a beer. We couldn't understand them and they couldn't understand us but we had a great time, the football was on so it woke the lad up and they proper fussed over him.

I wish I had more time and more money, I would travel the world.

Merely pointing out that it can’t ALL be full of repulsive Brits abroad types or their own wouldn’t holiday there.

My parents lived in a small village in the Jalon valley, not too far from Javea, for over 15 years. Great part of the world. The village’s first language was Valenciano rather than “Spanish”.

Think it was called Jesus Pobra or something similar, the lad was only 1 so over 17 years ago now, bet it has changed a bit.

Proddy flag shaggers

Must go to Javea at some point. BiL lives there (his lad plays in the Valencia youth system). Mate from school has a place there as well

At work, pretty much everyone who is based in Madrid take almost all their holidays in August and  all of them have second homes in the Javea area to escape the heat in Madrid in the summer

So, Scousers might be interested in trips to Madrid in August, whilst properties are left empty?

Yes, Jesus Pobre, just the other side of the motorway. Don’t know it well, but it’s decent around Dénia and Javea.

A lot of the Madrileños go to l’Era restaurant in Parcent for their paella. Done properly and great scenery around there.

Due to go Rhodes in a couple of weeks. Do I wait and hope it sorts itself out or look to transfer holiday elsewhere.

Hotel booked is not in an evacuated area, yet.

Youngest off to try and catch STDs in Faliraki in couple of weeks. Unless smoke starts affecting airport looks to be well away from affected area.

Wait.

That's what your travel agent should be telling you.

Just had a beer in the bay horse in Horwich. God I wish I hadn't.

Already looking at flights away for next year.....

Got a new phone last week. Went into Manchester today and got my first 5g signal.

Been back a week from 2 weeks Traf tours to Fuerteventura.

Great holiday, he saved us a few quid from what we would have paid booking with Jet2 direct ourselves. Would recommend and will book again through him.

Unrelated to Traf but we landed back on time at 2.30am Saturday... No stairs to get off the plane, then no bus drivers to take us the two minute walk to the terminal. Was nearly 2 hours to get off the plane. Taxi driver said its very common at Manc Airport these days.

Off to Prague in December and from there to Milan and a tour of Northern Italy. Not decided yet when we return to UK. All arranged by my youngest so sorry for not using either of the resident tour operators on this site. Maybe next time.😊👍

It’s grim up north.

As long as we keep the soft southern Jessie’s away….

Talking about this part of the country. I spend lot of time around the Forest and Trough of Bowland. It seems our departed Queen also liked it. (she owned most of it) For anyone looking for a day out or a vacation at home, you could do a lot worse. It really ain’t that grim up north.
