It's an absolutely stupid attitude, and can harm the customer too. 

Then there are employees tasked with the job of getting the money in.

In addition, in my first job post uni, I was told the Germans have a far better attitude towards payments on time. 

Best part of 40 years ago, so I just had the briefest of a looks.

Seems that they still have a more positive approach to it all.

Construction contracts are another matter... it's not just bout 60 days plus it also about milestones and compensation events... they're like marriages, both sides love each other at the beginning then as the job progresses they get pissed off with each other.

These days they keep me in the cupboard for when things go very wrong... I can't recall the number of times I've heard "you can't say that". Never, ever be afraid to demand your money... do not be afraid of losing the next job, if they really are bastards don't work for them.

 

Ive always found the bigger the company the harder it is to get paid both in my old job and current.

I had a gigantic contract with Great Places housing for years but getting the money became that hard I had to give up the gig and not re-tender for the contract.

They were based on 90 days from invoice but it would go way past that's and sometimes in to 9-10 months. Then payments would come in full either.

It stunted my cash flow. I could afford to hire men to carry the work as couldn't generate enough cash away from the contract to pay them and live myself. I couldn't allocate myself and staff solely to the contract either due to their delays.

It was fookin nightmare. 

Same in my old job contracting for Atos Orgin and Elyo Suez. 90 days payment terms, they'd hold on as much as possible.

 

I always pay all in my invoices on time, though I don't get that many 

As for my invoices, it doesn't matter whether I put payment on receipt or 30 or 60 days of whatever, I tend to get processed on their payment runs within a month, and others I have to keep chasing but tend to get paid with 2 months

Alot of my contacts now all use these silly bloody apps/payment systems.

Like a middle man firm that they must pay to use. Just adds another couple of layers of admin.

Concur, Block Management, Events management etc.

Every job needs a PO, every job needs authorisation from managers/RBMs etc etc. It's a right old pain in the arse and no good for someone with heavy procrastination

On the invoice front check the email manner of this lass from quite a large sheltered housing firm...

The Germans, and the Italians, are the worst by far. We're currently going legal with a German automotive customer who is over 15 months late on an invoice on excess of €100k

had a look, since I've worked for myself, I've submitted 1,094 invoices

3 never paid - a bloke on jersey, some belgian guy and a uk based womasn

the average payment turnaround is 23 days

got one guy who pays as soon as he receieves it

longest one, by a mile was an indian company who took 345 days, moaned about the price, loads of excuses and when they finally did pay it was in USD for some random amount that left me £400 short so had to chase again for the rest

got their in the end but felt like a war of attrition 

still don't understand why they just didn't find a local who could've done the job at a fraction of the price, because I've had a look on Fiver and there are loads of suitable candidates

and in keeping with this thread, I got AI to do most of it for me anyway

Mrs used to be the Account Manager for a couple of very large Chinese companies dealing with their inbound freight to the UK. Contracts would be agreed with price based on volume, payment terms signed off, penalty clauses inserted, numbers of trailer units agreed to be waiting at ports and airports, etc, etc. They then refused to pay on time dragging it out for months. Then they’d refuse the penalties eg they’d agree a volume, Mrs would agree number of trailers to Heathrow or Felixstowe and they’d be idle with no freight coming in so she’d bill them a penalty. When they refused she put them on stop and send no trailers. Used to hear them screaming at her on Teams. She fucked the accounts off and now only deals with Americans and Australians who do everything by the book

I just asked grok to crop a drone photo of the Toughsheet to a 16:9 ratio so I could use it as the wallpaper on my PC. This is the original image. I asked if it had the ability to do it first, and it said yes.

First it gave me 2 images of Barack Obama 😂 So I told it what was wrong and asked it to try again.

Then it just sent me the words " Adjusted Toughsheet Community Stadium Image". So I told it it hadn't posted any images.

Yeah you're basically using the wrong tool for image manipulation there 

It can generate random images but not edit existing ones

Plenty better tools for that as you've already discovered

Aye, I'm using one at the minute to produce photos of me for my website in a consultancy role 

I used it so to smarten up by profile pic and it was great 

But then trying to get it to produce ones of me in meetings and consulting, it just creates multiple versions of me 

Even even I specifically ask it to make the other person a female, it's still me
