Not that long ago we had top and bottom tiers. Fairly sure it was the game the Bolton fan fell from upper to lower. Perhaps a night match.

the fall game was a saturday

i think casino jnr went with you

Most important game of the season, must not lose. Forget Wembley, its a fun day out, but not important.

I'm going to Sheff Wed but I'd take defeat there all day long if it meant seeing us win at Wembley.

If we lose 3-0 at Sheff Wed we'll all have forgotten about it by Sunday, the Wembley match will be potentially talked about for years whether we like it or not and it will have far more  effect on morale and potential new fans or ST holders.

Last time I remember us having the bottom tier was when we won there in our promotion season under Allardyce.  Ian Marshall scoring the third iirc.

Good info, that game totally passed me by.  Had a quick look and Marshall only scored 6 goals for us, 4 of them away.  Attendance at Sheff Wed January 2001 only 17,600.  It sounds like we had over 3k there?  So a very poor turnout from Wednesday by their standards for a Saturday championship game.

Crikey, I was talking about that game today with a mutual friend. Wow, ten years ago!

I remember the 3-0 win loads of space up top

we need some highlights as I still stand by we’ve never had lower tier

Just been having a look but can't find any. I'm either going senile or I remember being in the lower tier for that game, right behind the post when Marshall turned and score the third.

I was there and agree

Was a shite weather affair in Jan

Couldn't say how many we did take but I'd be surprised if they opened both tiers for some reason as top one definitely wasn't full

Did we not have lower tier when we got beat 5-0 and di canio ripped us a new one ? As we defo had the corner that day and that only used to be used when away teams brought big followings

Fair play for braving that one again! 😂. What was the 2nd half like? 🤣

Looks like I might be wrong about Declan John - which I’m pleased about.

Would love him to play and put in a great performance Friday.

Evatt must think Sheff Wednesday's right winger is shit.

Likewise. Think it may have been a long-ish throw in. Got it and backed in. Experience and strength. Mugged the defender.

Had one with all the trimmings last season & it was very, very good. Trouble is, I don't think they'll be open for a night match.

Upper Tier away end capacity further reduced to 2,400 meaning we'll have a few hundred in the lower tier

Original allocation was 2,420 so looks like they knew the writing was already on the wall

Bolton had a corner of the stadium as well, loads paid on the day was a cracking following. Jimmy Phillips playing on the right did not end well. :)
