May 7, 20233 yr We've pretty much had the identical average gate of Huddersfield (18,800) 12th in the championship. But remember, ours is much much more impressive due to the severe lack of away fans. I think it's realistic to say if we played in the championship this season we'd at least average 20k, 7/6th highest.

Although at least we have the occasional Sheff Wed/Derby bringing 4k, max at Huddersfield is about 2k. But yes, some pitiful away followings in this league.

The obvious one is Plymouth, their average attendance doesn't do them justice, many sell outs, ground just not big enough for this season. We don't have that problem, as most don't. Accy wouldn't look quite so bad if their ground was bigger, and presumably all the tinpot clubs under 7k average would be higher if they had bigger capacities. Bristol Rovers & Pompey too.

May 9, 20233 yr Some more detail there on how weekend/evening can affect attendances. I suppose timings will play a part too- when you play at a ground with a big away capacity for example. Overall though, it's probably what folk would generally expect.

Whereas it tells me that the team are playing entertaining football and FVs plans to engage the local community are working, even though that involves cheap tickets. No complaints about any of that especially as it brings in more money for the club and builds our future fanbase who hopefully will be supporting the Wanderers long after the "I've been an ST holder since Nat Lofthouse was a foetus" snobs are dead and buried. Would be interested to see a chart of iFollow subscriptions given that it's an equally viable income stream for the club and broadens the clubs reach internationally. We're rebuilding after a near-fatal brush with oblivion so I don't think we can afford to be picky about who coughs up their money.
