How can judging from those games be “bangers” when surely that’s what Evatt’s doing or there’s no point in playing them? The strikers know that they’ve much to prove after last year, Evatt’s even said publicly that more goals from them are essential. If you can’t see that then that’s your problem rather than people pointing it out. They should be busting their guts to get goals but they’re just not and posters are right to voice their concerns.

So you want a professional athlete to peak in performance in a pre season friendly with a month before the first game?

Individual performances arent the problem and what most people are worried about.

Its the heading into the new season playing the same way with the same players minus our most creative.

They are for fitness. They should be behind closed doors if they weren’t money spinners. No one over 12 should be critiquing our season based on a couple friendlies.

We won’t score lots of goals due to our style of play but that was obvious from last season. Not having a kick about at Chester.

Who is busting a gut for pre season? Charles should demand a move after being left out. I bet he doesn’t though.

Chester away. Stop downplaying it. 😂

Fitness yes

but I do believe these games are important like I said earlier as a striker banging goals will give good confidence and that’s exactly what ours need

I just don’t see it mate. We lose every pre season game I think it has no bearing. We win every game. I think it has no bearing.

I hear what you are saying but all strikers say the same think scoring is a confidence issue so surely our strikers should be busting a gut to score as Vic , Jerome and Dan don’t seem to be able to do against any opposition atm hopefully they will come good but we do need a playmaker in midfield.

I'm sure we absolutely twatted Bambar Bridge (or someone similar) in Evatt's first pre-season but it didn't stop the first few months in the league being a car wreck

Pre season or not, as of today, with last season into account and 3 pre season games, I haven't seen a sign that warrants us good enough to reach our target of automatic promotion this season - as of right NOW, however pointless that is.

You can downplay it all you want, but as of right now, we have not been and are playing good enough and got the right squad to finish in the top 2, with us being at least 4/5 signings off. As well as a strike force that is seriously low on goals and confidence.

We might smash Lincoln and have a magnificent season, I'm not saying we won't. But right now, including the pre season friendlies, you can't sit here and say from the games and training they've had over summer, and our recruitment, that we are an improvement to the end of last season.

Think you nailed it with your statement as of right now.

I actually agree with a lot but I’m not calling it out till we start the season as in 2 weeks time we may have 5 new lads in and smash everyone in our paths from Aug 4th. When it does matter.

Spot on mate. The fact no one remembers says it all. 99 point season I’m sure we lost most, if not all our pre season games.

Fairly with you on this. Nothing tells me he will be good or hit the ground running from his time in a Bolton shirt.

As cheese and a few others have said hopefully he come back a different animal.

I have a theory he can only play well in yellow. Think he had his best game v Brizzle rovers

Has the window closed yet?
Has Evatt said he's happy with what he's got?

Please let's all shut the fuck up about the squad, the pitch, the sponsors logos, the faded away shirts etc etc

Some of us trying to be positive here 😉

Newcastle were 2 down to Gateshead yesterday, eventually won 3-2, but you get my point.

Pre season has never been and never will be an indication of how things pan out, presume most of our older fans know this though.

Its pathetic,  some of our 'fans' are gonna need keeping an eye on if these possible 2 new faces dont appear by the end of the week as Mr evatt has said.

Had to delete a couple of fan sites,  it's like they are desperate for us to fail.

Lock the thread if it's not worth discussing.

Probably the best post yet

It’s obvious there can’t be a discussion without folk taking other views and turning it around making out they’re moaning or whinging etc

Free speech innit. You're free to moan and whinge, and others are free to say you're moaning and whinging.

But that’s it I’m not

just airing observations/concerns from watching a game

We aren’t at politics thread levels. Surely no one’s seeing their arse on this yet.

No I'm not, just pointing out that pre season means nowt result wise.

I'm more than happy to hear others concerns/opinions.

Santos missing two games for different reasons for example, can't help but think folk are adding 2 and 2 and getting 5.

on todays performance we’re a mid table outfit

I don’t have a problem with your observations - I always think you are fair and will call it good or bad on how you see it. I’d take on board your concerns over strikers/goalscoring. I’d always take your view having been and seen the game, than some of the dross that goes out on Twitter/Facebook.

But I will challenge you on translating that into us being a mid-table outfit.

There was no Baxter, no Santos, no Charles, plenty brought on who won’t be playing v Lincoln. Plenty of combinations out there that won’t be there come Lincoln. New signings to add in and the result meaning very little.
