No I'm not, just pointing out that pre season means nowt result wise.

I'm more than happy to hear others concerns/opinions.

Santos missing two games for different reasons for example, can't help but think folk are adding 2 and 2 and getting 5.

No I agree.

I meant about closing the thread down.

I don’t have a problem with your observations - I always think you are fair and will call it good or bad on how you see it. I’d take on board your concerns over strikers/goalscoring. I’d always take your view having been and seen the game, than some of the dross that goes out on Twitter/Facebook.

But I will challenge you on translating that into us being a mid-table outfit.

There was no Baxter, no Santos, no Charles, plenty brought on who won’t be playing v Lincoln. Plenty of combinations out there that won’t be there come Lincoln. New signings to add in and the result meaning very little.

Yes fair point few players missing I get that, I do think even with Charles playing he would’ve struggled as there was zero creativity

On the goalkeeper front will it be Baxter? I don’t think he’s seen enough of both yet

Exactly, why should we doubt that.

Keeper signed as no.1 is deffo Baxter, agree on that too.

Let's see how it pans out though.

I wouldn't of even voiced my opinion on our pre season performances if they were so rare and irrelevant. But the case for me and a few others is that what we have seen is so similar and common in a lot of our matches last season.

Of course it doesn't matter at this stage, it is pre season. But I'm sure we can agree that our start so far unfortunately has been lacking in positivity.

Missed out on signings, strikers lacking confidence, johno and toal injured etc. This isn't to say we won't do well but it's an observation so far.

But people attacking others for making observations so far and critiquing them for having opinions as fans is extremely strange behaviour.

You might no agree with what I say or others, but to say our opinions are meaningless because it's pre season is just plain stupid.

You’re right I don’t think Evatt has come out and said categorically Baxter is number one.

Just an interpretation based on pedigree, previous level played at and I’m sure I read something about him wanting to be the best keeper in this league. I’d be very surprised if I see Coleman v Lincoln.

Somebody told me yesterday who’s seen them both play that Baxter is more comfortable with the ball at his feet?

Possibly then I haven’t seen Baxter yet thought he would’ve played a half at Chester, Coleman had very little to do tbf and nothing could’ve been done for there goal

Please only comment about our performances if it’s positive.

Thanks.

I don’t get why folk don’t see that our strikers who were pants last season will be pants again. They just aren’t goal scorers. Their career stats show they aren’t goal scorers . It’s not moaning it’s a fact.

They just need a pre season apparently

Evatt recently said Coleman knows the role he's come in to play, or words to that effect

I interpreted that to mean back up

But Baxter's injury record is poor so there's a good possibility he starts more matches than the average back up goalkeeper would

Good points Lostock my opinion is we need better more skilful players than what we have in midfield to unlock defences as we saw last season we struggle to breakdown organised teams case in point Barnsley.
As for our forwards all we can hope is they show up and prove me wrong! ( Vic Dan and Jerome).

Absolutely. Evatt says we need 4 or 5 players and that may be true, but our priority is quality not quantity if we're not going to go backwards. Obviously 4 or 5 quality players would be ideal - the sooner the better - but at the moment I could only dream of that happening seeing as to improve us they'd have to be better than e.g. Bradley and Lee.

Problem with pre season speculation is,  everyone is bored, so as soon as Santos misses a couple of games, he’s off! Even though IE explained what was going on. Same with Charles, they’re managing minutes cause he’s had a busy summer, so he’s definitely signing for Preston.

Read a few of the posts above and then binned it. If anyone cares to do an in depth analysis of BWFC pre seasons they will find (I will save them the trouble) that you can read absolutely fuck all into them in relation to performance and results in the coming season. It must be the summer heat which sends folk troppo and panic attacks commence.

Far better to stand back, look at the unquestionable progress over the last couple of seasons and conclude that it is more than likely we will continue to progress, or at least maintain the level we had, and are likely be playoff contenders again (or even better). Yes, good 'uns have gone like Bradley, Trafford etc. but what happened to "In Evatt and FV we trust"?

Far better to have either doom monger predictions or wildly optimistic discussions after we are around 10 games in. This pre season stuff is just  a 'blowing away cobwebs' proposition.

Still think we need to bring in some quality to replace and ideally improve on the quality we've lost. F*** all to do with whether or not I trust the recruitment team to do it or not - it's just logical that we need it.

The ten games in thing is spot on though as any signings we do make will probably need time to settle in seeing as we didn't get the business done early doors as Evatt etc clearly wanted to do.

That sounds like we might be agreeing to an extent. Pack it in. Now.

Attacking? Calling something bangers. I’ll leave you to crack on then if that’s how you feel.

Bi-polarways.

This thread is called 'Pre-Season' and yet people seem surprised that there are posts talking about... pre-season. Start a thread called 'Let's wait 10 games' and discuss in there how nobody should judge anything until October.

I haven't seen us play either game, so I have no real opinion. But would it be noteworthy had we pumped Chester 6-0 with hat-tricks from Dan and Vic? Yes. So if they still look as toothless as they did last season it's at least worthy of comment (in a thread about pre-season).

Vic and Dan sounds like a hilarious duo doing the early morning slot on picadilly key 103

They will probably end up on there if they don’t improve on the dross they delivered last season. IE knows there are issues with Vic, Dan and Cameron and hopefully they start to click by the time Lincoln turn up
