The Managerial Roundabout

Shrewsbury potting Cotterill is an odd one,

Spurs possibly seeking a new manager around Christmas, not sure how he will do.

Gerrard to Leeds is rumoured.

Uri Geller to Wigan?

I know he’s not a manager but Standard Liege fans seem gutted we’ve got Fergal Harkin to the extent that some are saying he saved them from relegation despite having no budget. Sounds positive.

  • Are you serious? The guy brought us some fucking brilliant moments  that we’ll never forget. Yeah, it didn’t end up great but ffs.

3 teams promoted who's manager has left or been sacked:

Ipswich, Lincoln and Rochdale

I've liked this but to qualify, although I understood his decision it absolutely gutted me. My first season ticket was Rioch's first season and he's the reason I attended until leaving England, his sides were the football sides I fell in love with.

He's leaving to have a break, officially

To be fair, it feels the genuine reason

read the other day he wanted the Fulham job

and then sign delap again

would be surprised if he actually took a break

that said

the article said the stumbling block was an £8M release clause in his contract

so would be surprised if he and Fulham think he could now just take the job and Ipswich would let it slide

he was clear favourite the other day, now not even listed as a candidate on SKY Bet

meanwhile, Kieron Dyer new boss at Southend

He’ll have sprained his wrist signing his contract and be out for 10 weeks.

Yeah I think this rules him out of any job this summer (or there'll be an expensive tribunal).

More likely a proper break and he starts getting offers from September when Prem managers start getting sacked. Possibly next Man U manager once Carrick gets potted towards Christmas

Rob Edwards was in a video announcing Wolves signing Raul Jimenez yesterday. Then finds out on Twitter some Portuguese bloke is having his job.

Been a hell of a few months for all involved since he ditched Boro when they were top of the league.

I hadn’t heard this.

Bonkers.

Viewing from afar I thought he’d done a pretty good job steadying the ship there (they were down before he arrived) and that he was well liked, respected and set to bring them back up next season,

Well let’s hope it’s a shocking move, it destabilises them and puts them into disarray with big egoed, expensive players falling out and underperforming….. here’s hoping 😊

Hope this massively backfires on them, Wolves at home first anyone?

mental

thought Edwards was daft for leaving Boro when top, but presumed all the club were on the same page that it was with one eye on next season as was never going to save them

as an aside the new manager played against us for Braga

Incredible even in the mad world of football management.

And whilst we'd all like to see Wolves struggle to adjust to the championship, its not our concern other than when we play them. They could have anyone as manager and still finish top 6 with the squad they'll have, as Bolton fans its the teams potentially in the bottom half where we want the disarray to happen!

Very hard to have much sympathy for Edwards to be honest.

Apparently he's a Wolves fan and his family live in the area. Which would make me want to avoid the job totally as it usually ends up going to shit and you're getting abuse from your own lot

Though he wasn't bothered about managing Watford and Luton despite them hating one another. Not quite Steve Bruce territory when it comes to managing the opposition

Football is weird.

At the top level unless you have the best player in the World in every position then the club will always be looking to improve.

The same, I assume, goes for the best manager. If this new geezer is thought to be an improvement then the club should be looking.

Of course it is never as simple as that but that's the principle.

But I feel for anyone who found out because the family looked on social media. I hope he rips them for every penny & then the new guy fvks it up.

Edwards contract was 3.5 years, sacked after 7 months.

Nice work if you can get it.

Reputation not damaged with his spell at Wolves, he'll get a championship club before Christmas (presume its too early for Ipswich, but if Gary O'Neill is favourite he must have a chance).

Its the agent Jorges Mendes who is pulling the strings and apparently he's involved behind the scenes of the running of the club

In the championship he brought Nuno, Jota, Neves etc all from Portugal

He's brought in this manager from Portugal

They've had loads of players from Portugal

Edwards has left more than one job after discreetly negotiating with other clubs while under contract so he can't complain when he's on the other side of it

Yep. I thought they were owned by Portuguese. It seems it's a bunch of Chinese.

I’d love to get paid off to not work for wolves

Someone should remind him that "... WE are the one and only Wanderers".
