England Women’s Football

I know this is the French, but still a good tweet.

Come on England!

Perhaps not as strong as we were for the Euros, but still in with a good shout.

We were our own worst enemies. I had the feeling that if we could get a goal back then we would play without fear, forget controlled football, go for it and who knows? Every time we started to get going we ballsed it up with a basic error. Anyway, changes made and we’re back in it. The Swedes are looking a bit tired. 🤞🤞

I've slowly changed my opinion on women's football. Used to slag it off for all the well muted negative points. But you cannot compare it to the mens/boys/ Sunday league standard. So accepting the difference for me is key.

In the name of equality, the funding and their pay has increased. The media popularity forces it upon us. Despite the elephant in the room, thay aren't men, so impossible to compare their game.

An equal comparison, my 1990's Sunday league team would batter England.

The one change for me that I think would improve the quality without it being made to look like a lesser product would be to reduce the size of the nets.

Outfield players are improving at an amazing rate but it’s still all too easy to see a ball just floated into the net over the keeper, which cheapens the whole product because it just gives an easy stick to beat the game with.

On average, men are about 10% taller than women, it’s a genetic fact. If they reduced the height and width of the nets by 10% - for no other purpose than reflecting the genetic difference to men - then I’m convinced you’d see a better overall product with little reasoning against it.

It must have been considered by the powers that be. Maybe it’s just me that thinks it’s a sensible solution to the keeper issue.

Russo should have squared it there

Reasonable idea.

Very possibly, it’s been annoying me for a while because I think it’s just sensible and shouldn’t be controversial.

Probably up for the women in the game to decide mate. Wonder what their views are. I assume many wouldn’t want to change it.

You’re right though, standards have improved so much but the keepers are often too easily beaten.

Issue at left back was glaringly obvious v France, Swedes easily exploited it.

But the back 4 v France has been changed positionally?

Carthorse played that game at LB, didnt she, Greenwood at LCB

Getting close to kelly having the chance to tarnish her penalty legacy

Totally agree, but that's sexist.

It has, don't think the ponderous start helped, some loose, sloppy playing around at the back invited pressure. Where have we seen that before 🤔

Plus the women dont want it

Fwiw, i used to be in favour of smaller goals, but no, its their game

Leave em be

It's not quality football but me and the lad have enjoyed this game. We have laughed a bit more than we would normally at a football game though 😉

Been shite for 110 minutes. Doubt we win this.

These are some shite penalties

Some of the worst ever, in any form of football. Clinton's hardly reached the keeper

Goal size and penalties, definitely penalties.

You can't even celebrate that, jesus christ 😂

We could do with winning the semi in normal time. Swedes playing rugby with most of their pens

Like a Remploy funday! Awful pens

fucking hell, women are bad at penalties, I'm crying laughing, that last nearly hit corner flag

Needed Carthorse on for the pens, she’d have probably come thudding up and took the net off.

What was that

Sweeden letting their keeper take the 5th 🤡

The penalties will be recorded and replayed everytime equal pay is mentioned

Joey Barton said he would score 100 out of 100 penalties against Englands Woman Goalkeeper.....Not sure about that, but he would have a chance of saving 100
