I'm happy with Oxford's equaliser, Wycombe very much contenders and we've made 7 points on them in a week.  And 7 points on Oxford too.   Could also say the difference between us and Pompey is Re

Wembley was a decent crowd JSL

Based on every previous year at this level we get a big crowd every week.

Charlton was declared an exemption zone for the usual poor performance calculations in about 1977.

Charlton rule was briefly abandoned in 1983 as we lost 1-4 and got relegated

Exceptions and rules.

Birthday celebrations have kept me away over the weekend and last night.

Catching up on Northampton and Wycombe threads - crikey there was some pre game/in game doom mongering! 😂

Some good trends for those of a more positive mind-set

After 13 games

21/22: W5 D3 L5 - GD 0 - 18 pts - (9th)

22/23: W6 D3 L4 GD+5 - 21 pts - (5th)

23/24: W8 D2 L3 GD+7 - 26 pts - (4th, 2 pts off autos game in hand,currently ambitions higher)

Long way to go but still clear signs of continuous progression under Evatt

Some funny stuff off Twatter too

“I’m furious we’re 2 points off the autos. Should’ve won every game, I reckon it’s because Sadlier was a victim of Evatt’s stubbornness”

“But can you do it on a cold Tuesday night in Wycombe?”

A voice of reason - have a 'like'. Won't stop some of them chucking a tanty every time perfection is not achieved though.

Pretty sure it was a Saturday. I remember coaching in the morning and driving over. Could only get in their end, got approached by a Bradford skin-head with a knife!

In such a situation you should use your loaf ;)

Ever the optimist, I  expect the same result we achieved last season at their place.

Last season I was at the game and a group of us  received a flash score update a good 2 mins before Charles scored the winner saying we we would go 2-1 up in the exact minute we did.

That was mental. I went nuts at Sky saying their broadcast must have been miles behind the reality 🤣

So will Evatt play half the team out of position again for this one?

Charlton have a great attack but a shit defence.

Let’s hope so

The good news for us is that Chucks Aneke did his hamstring on Saturday when they murdered Reading 4 nil and he didn't play on Tuesday when they lost to Lincoln so there's a good chance he won't play on Saturday. Appleton will probably put Leaburn alongside Alfie May and revert to a 442 as they're at home. I reckon Charlton are a different proposition to Wycombe so Evatt may revert to a variation of Saturday's team.

I was there that day. Im sure we was 1-0 up through Ian Moores? Then it all went tits up!

Yes his only goal in about five months if I remember rightly. I think someone put his boots on the wrong feet most of the season as he was dreadful.

Signed for us with a decent career behind him, but would put him on par with Dan Ludo!

I cant remember much about the day to be honest, just that we ended up getting slaughtered after Moores goal. I still remember thinking we was going to stay up!, very foolish of me!

A bit harsh. Scored 7 in 33 games for us in a relegated team, more like Vic's goals ratio than Dan's.  Never played below Div 2, yes he was poor, but we've had worse.  And he once said hello to me coming out of a shop in Hindley Green, one of those instantly recognisable players.  Sadly died at 43.

The Blue Oyster Bar closed its doors in 2005 sadly 🙂

For third division football, all the way to London, that's pretty good. Deep into autumn, and after another long away.

You lot are a disgrace not shifting 2k

With the London/home counties matches we've always been helped along with a sizable contingent from those areas. Bolton ex-pats. It's the same for the large majority of football league clubs*, the bigger the town/club the higher the London based fans to swell the population of the away end.

*Does not apply to Wigan who once turned up to White Hart Lane with, what was it, 19 fans? Wiganers rarely stray from the town. You can find ex-pats from all the Lancs towns across the south-east but meeting a pie-eater is exceedingly rare.
