six goals in 18 matches isn't a bad stat for Vic

True, & those 6 can't be taken from him, but 3 came in one match. 3 in 17 isn't great.

I’m more pointing out the luxury we have yes I agree let’s press on and do these however we’ve done the hard work in gaining ground back it’s a good position to be in

Clear foul. Keeper has hold of the ball, and the player bumps him.

OK, keeper is pissing around a bit, but it is a foul.

It's not a foul. He doesn't bump him and the contact is minimal at best. If the the keeper hadn't thrown himself to the ground then he wouldn't have spilled the ball. Serves him right.

It shouldn’t be a foul but contact with the keeper under the daft laws is

Cheers for the responses @Johnnyrotten @radcliffe white and @Stig 👍

Always good to hear the alternative side to a discussion and you all make some very valid points.

I think one thing we all definitely agree on is how good it is to have a firing JDB in the mix for selection again knowing how influential he can be. If we can keep him Injury free for the rest of the season he could make a valuable contribution to us getting promoted

Clear foul, there is contact. If keeper does that sort of thing to a striker, everyone would be screaming for a penalty.

Soft it maybe; doesn't change things under the rules.

And cumulatively from about 5 yards. Can’t knock the poaching instinct but he feels a little impotent from anything greater than 6 yards

I can only assume you've only seen one angle of it. There are others that show he in no way pushes him. He literally puts his hand on him. It wasn't a foul.

Not going to name players or put down anyone in the squad, but it is obvious we need  a new Partner alongside Charles

We have 5 forwards in the first team squad along with a B team player i think in Ireland.

Come January we need only to make 1 signing and i think promotion would be guaranteed.

We have to be thinking now about next season in the championship, hand on heart are our forwards good enough to step up.....Only Evatt can answer that

I think we have the best Goalkeeper, Defence and Midfield in the league but our front line is bang average Charles apart

Jerome is not the worst player up front in my opinion, but he would be the one i move on simply because of his age and where he would be next season..........Help him get a club or get him his badges and find him a job internally

This is not a case of getting rid but realising we are not good enough in that department

Again i say this is not forcing anybody out but lets it is just my opinion we need a Marquee signing and that signing HAS to be a partner for Charles

Jerome isnt going anywhere, hes now part of the coaching staff and didnt even make the bench on Saturday.

We are top of the league and the whole team has been built around pressing stats and rotation.

Highly doubt we are signing another striker with 4 already on the books unless its a back up for Charles.

I think Vic's hold up play has improved this season, but both Vic and Dion's link play are not great, and needs to be improved if there are to progress their careers. But it goes without saying that Charles is much the better striker. I sometimes feel that we forget the league we are in and judge our players to premiership standard. Their weaknesses reflect our position in the scheme of things. But in the league we are in they have many positives which reflects our form and position in the league.

I think that we will not be getting a marquee signing unless we lose players to injury or receive an offer we can't refuse.

Think we're looking for flaws that aren't necessarily there.

Wonder how many of Dion's have been tap ins from no distance?

How many times has Dion scored two in a match?

How many penalties has he had?

Vic isn't the greatest, but we can make an imbalanced case against him, or anyone for that, if we try.

You get the ball into him in the 6 yard box we score. Sadly we don’t play that way.

I hope we can get a striker in but can’t see us going for it

Fair points but the big difference Dion can hold the ball up & chase, unfortunately Vic struggles

Dions game has so many attributes than just goals

UEFA come out and said they cocked up with the Newcastle goal and it should've stood

not that it helps Newcastle

but hope they beat Milan at Home and PSG lose at Dortmund

I really rate Dion for his goals and work rate. His hold up play is terrible especially when he drops deep. Vic is nowhere near the overall level of Dion btw.  Let's be honest if Dion scores 20 goals this season again, might even be top scorer in division ( £10 on at 12/1) , works as hard as he does AND could hold the ball up well he would not be playing for us.

Wonder if a club will test us January?

I agree, his first touch can be shocking at times, like a trampoline

Agreed on Charles, very poor first touch and easily pushed off the ball, also can be very sloppy in possession. And yes 2 great assists v Exeter but that was an exception for him. Obviously his goals justify his status as first pick striker, the type of goals he scores cant be compared to Vic's tap ins. Eg Vale, Reading away. In fact I can't remember him scoring a 2 yarder, tend to be 12, 15 yards range and the other thing that sets him apart from Vic is he can finish with either foot.

Vic doesn’t score dions at reading for a start. Or JDB’s at Stockport

but do the others score his.. course they do

Any striker worth his salt gets half a dozen at least from poaching. It’s the others that make them a more all round threat

Agreed, and Vic missed his own easier chances at reading aswell. Vic is in there for his pressing . If it ain't broke don't fix it ....but it would be nice if he could work on his hold up play because it's like his shins are made of concrete.

Whilst not in the bracket of McGinlay and Walker, there have been signs at times of improved understanding and link play between the two.

Neither are top target men, nor are they expected to be.

Neither would be at this level if they could both score plenty, and function as strong hold it up type.

Its perhaps also the case that we don't want them both making the same runs, and operating in the same way.

But they didn't!

He was there, Charles was elsewhere.

Absolutely nothing wrong in that because of the way they moved in the build up.

It could be argued that if balls across were more consistently accurate, then there would be more tap ins.

We have an effective goal scoring front line, and we should be happy with that.

Of course they should always push to improve themselves, but again, we're league one, and if they were so super, they wouldn't be here.

Absolutely get that point. He scored them cos he was there and credit for getting in to those positions. The point is more around the other types of goals he also scores

if he gets us 15 or so from that position then there can’t be many arguments from anyone. He’s done his job. But if those dry up where else is the threat from him?
