Our Wingbacks  Get it to the Byline

Do They Put a Cross in to the Box No

Pass it back to the Midfield

Who Then Pass it Back to Defence

Defence then Pass it to the Wingbacks  Who have got back for it

Exactly this, its league one our wingbacks need to put the ball in the danger area its a numbers game at this level put the ball in the box at every opportunity, league one defenders will make mistakes if the frequency of crosses is high.

We had a corner last night and did exactly that. It went right back to the keeper, who was standing well out of his area to be fair, to Santos and to midfield.

A good measured post with valid comments, and yes I wish we could claim compensation for sleep loss!

But on your last point, anyone that wants changes, pragmatism, plans B, C, D - and some leaders (preferably with some bite/physicality) - its one or t'other, we either want IE to stay and continue or we want the points you mention, we can't have both.

IE isn't going to change, rightly or wrongly.  I'm not talking about exceptional circumstances like Northampton in response to a sending off - its about adapting tactics to certain opposition or just to take them by surprise occasionally, or to adapt to who's available in our squad, maybe not always having 5 defenders/wingbacks etc when circumstances dictate.

I dont think it is one or the other, he has changed in his time with us, very slowly, but he has. The different plans will show the pragmatism, picking the right tactic to suit the challenge in front at that time and maybe sacrificing some of the 'style'. Maybe I am asking too much with some leaders on the pitch as well, but it could be as simple as a change of captain, as Santos just isn't the man to drag them out of the shit.

It only takes ONE chance to win a match. We could have created 20 good chances to their 1, and still have lost. That's just fucking football ffs.

This..

Possession counts for nothing if you can't get it in the net.

We’d of needed 2 converted chances to win?

The stat that JDB didn’t touch the ball at all in 20 mins is staggering if true.

FFS, how can a forward come on when you’re 1-0 down and not even touch the fucking ball.

Says it all.

We need someone to watch the match again. Painful as it may be.

I'm going to watch it back now. From when JDB came on, which was just after their goal. But I suspect it's true.

I don't recall him touching the ball unless he got something on a corner.  There were no long balls upto the striker that we've seen in previous games, where he gets a flick on or controls it and lays it off.  We simply didn't pass to the strikers once we were behind, from memory it was all down the flanks or Dempsey running into about 3 defenders through the middle.  I think Jerome had a header towards goal from a cross from the right, but I'm not convinced there was a meaningful touch by Jerome with his feet.

Just finished. Bodvarsson didn't touch the ball once. He ran his cock off as he usually does, but it wasn't down to the way we played either. Hardly any of those 20 minutes were played in our half. The idea that we were "playing around at the back in injury time when we're 1-0 down" is fucking nonsense. Wigan stuck 11 men behind the ball (as you'd expect), and we couldn't find a way to break through. We had chances, but it didn't happen. Simple as that.

You’re defending of this is nonsense.

We were schooled by a third rate manager from Scotland.

It wasn’t a bad day at the office. We were just poor and sucked into a game plan. Simple as that.

They executed their game plan to perfection, which in effect was to let us execute ours....... In the full knowledge that if they stayed in their defensive shape we were likely to create the square root of fuck all. Our most threatening move of the match was Coleman's long clearance to Collins & his cross in to the box.

Think you’re doing a bit of a disservice to Maloney there when you look at his actual coaching career with Belgium etc

Tell me why dempsey doesnt make the goal wider by getting in to the far post...hits him, its a goal

To be fair that’s a secondary part of the response. Maloney has done us both times so it’s a fair argument.

I actually thought it was just me who thought this. I was a bit disappointed.
