Bug Vic looking decent this season, and holding it up.

Do we need a player like that, or busy lads running in behind?

Don't know what they are like defensively in terms of height pace etc.

They do ship goals though, so hopefully the manager etc have done their homework on how best to overcome it.

Evatt come out during the week and said there’d be a horses for courses approach between Vic and Charles. Think much of that is playing the game, Charles is undoubtedly the number 1 and first pick 9 times out of 10. Vic will get his fair share of minutes and hopefully goals. Just a question of whether that’s enough for him cos he has come back looking a bit of a different beast so far

Neither of those for me, he'll be easing Matete and other new signings into the team (Schon benefitting from Williams coming back from injury).

I think tomorrow is a massive test coming at this stage in our transition to this slightly new style.  In the 2 games so far we haven't looked comfortable for any sustained spell, we haven't dominated at all and haven't had our usual level of possession or chances to score, both games were unconvincing.  We're playing a team very set in their ways and settled, on a high and with nothing to lose.  I feel like the level of performance we've seen so far won't be enough, we need to improve at both ends and if we do we'll hopefully have enough to make it an even better start than last season given the better opposition.

You probably didn’t go to Orient and it’s not the same watching it on TV.

As Radcliffe said, the game passed by George/Sheehan so much and the only time that our midfield has been in charge in the two games has been when Matete has been on the field.

Proving his worth.

Didn't start at Orient neither.

Ought to be able to cope.

He'd be able to cope in his sleep probably.  But management/fitness coaches etc are all over how many minutes each player gets, it will all be stats based.  Besides which Tomo and Sheehan won't be getting dropped any time soon, maybe there'll be rotation when we have Saturday/Tuesday league games.

I think Evatt said during the week that he already had his team for Saturday

Mmmm, his agent will have a lot to say about this. 😉

Bit of a contradiction there!

A stats based approach for fitness and minutes, except those two?

Bit of perspective I think prior to the game. Yeh they’ve got the money behind them but have hardly set the world alight with their signings after promotion. Some of the players in the side have got champ / L1 pedigree but overall there’s a reason they were slugging around in L2 last season.. because that’s the level they’re now at. Maybe mid - lower L1 at best.

when the fixtures came out and every other season a newly promoted side at home for the first game you would snap everyone’s hands off. Tomorrow should be no different.

yeh with a big crowd and their big following it will raise the occasion. I still don’t buy it’s a “big game” because of that, but a team who should’ve got promoted last season and it’s favourites to do so this season should be turning these men over.

so we’ll either win 3-0 or go 1 down and scrape a draw 🤣 there’s no inbetween with us

It's a "big game" purely for us. Last time most fans saw us we choked at Wembley and most fans would have been happy with Evatt out and reasonable amount of squad changes.

Fans tomorrow will be looking for "what's different this season". Usually we struggle against other good teams, and especially if they've got a big following. So tomorrow could be any of 10-12 of the decent teams in L1 and it would be a big game. Nothing to do with Wrexham

Sheehan & GT got over ran for periods at Orient and we should’ve been punished personally, we need a considerable step up from last Saturday imo

Definitely need a step up, got away with sloppiness last week and in midweek, hoping for signs of progress tomorrow.

Aye, should also be on the front foot at home too

Would like to see Matete and McAtee start, but would settle for the latter

Be disappointed for want of a better word if iredale starts

Johnston needs to start tomorrow, he’s miles better than Iredale in that position.

It’s a load of bollocks this stats based selections, best player should start.

Think a Charles / Collins / McAtee front 3 is nailed on tomorrow

If we start MCC it will be a cricket score

Aye

If he was fit enough to play 90 minutes Tuesday he's fit enough to play tomorrow

Vic’s a starter for me… best player all preseason and notched first touch last week.

Considering the opposition and their physical approach, I hope you’re right but I just think that he’ll start with Charles.

Similar to Morley, thanks for everything but we simply need a better standard of footballer to push on.

Iredale has been OK but we need better than him now.

Unpopular opinion but am the same with Dempsey

Quite happy with him, iredale and Morley on the bench and in the squad

Only use in the league if no other option

I will say I'm happy we have Dempsey to bring on during a game, but not bothered about the other two

Mmmm, when he’s fit, I really rate Dempsey but getting fed up with him being injured.

He offers something different to any of our other midfielders but we need a proper run of games without him being ruled out with injuries.

This.

Busy around the opposition box.

Exactly the same. Lad runs his bollocks off like. But he's no good if he's not on the pitch.

I always think about if clubs would want to sign them or if they'd get in any of our competitors teams.

Folk aren't beating the door down for Dempsey and Iredale. And they're not touching Birminghas team.

In fairness, they're not beating the door down for any of our players!

Thankfully.

Of course but I reckon a few would improve most teams at the higher echelons.

Anyway where's that wanker McClean playing tomorrow? LWB?

Always had a lot of time for PP for the way he conducted himself in those dark days.

He would have got us up last season.

Better manager than IE.

Yep, Cogley needs to get them steel 2” screw-in studs sorted.

Aye, I think you're right.

Does beg the question why no one seems to have showed major interest.

Brizzle did last year for Thomason, but heard of nowt else.

Evatt would have kept us in the Championship.
