I'll tell you something these guys have done, very regularly, for about 4 seasons. They score late goals. The proportion of 80' on goals is crazy & the number of additional time ones in particular.

Bit of perspective I think prior to the game. Yeh they’ve got the money behind them but have hardly set the world alight with their signings after promotion. Some of the players in the side have got champ / L1 pedigree but overall there’s a reason they were slugging around in L2 last season.. because that’s the level they’re now at. Maybe mid - lower L1 at best.

when the fixtures came out and every other season a newly promoted side at home for the first game you would snap everyone’s hands off. Tomorrow should be no different.

yeh with a big crowd and their big following it will raise the occasion. I still don’t buy it’s a “big game” because of that, but a team who should’ve got promoted last season and it’s favourites to do so this season should be turning these men over.

so we’ll either win 3-0 or go 1 down and scrape a draw 🤣 there’s no inbetween with us

Sometimes newly promoted sides start strongly- a continued bounce- until teams suss them out.

It really is a big game: even if we are considered a stronger side, it's as much about the occasion, and rising to it. They certainly will.

Too often last season we didn't, and were beaten by teams that "on paper" we shouldn't.

Big game; physical opponents with a big following. The kind of game we've choked or underperformed in, in the past under Evatt.  I don't expect us to tomorrow.

That is my only concern for tomorrow. I'm not overly worried about their quality compared to us. Especially when it comes to the strength in depth we have and how good our bench will be this season. If we can match Wrexham for aggression then I think our quality will win us the game.

We have some quality players so for me it all depends on how well -or poorly - we play.

I just feel if we can click up front and not make any horrendous mistakes at the back we'll have enough to win it.

Yep. Win your battles first then play your football. Evatt sounds like he's more tuned into substance over style now, let's hope it's amply demonstrated tomorrow.

Yep, first test for Evatt, is he ruthless enough or foolishly loyal?

Think a Charles / Collins / McAtee front 3 is nailed on tomorrow

Bug Vic looking decent this season, and holding it up.

Do we need a player like that, or busy lads running in behind?

Don't know what they are like defensively in terms of height pace etc.

They do ship goals though, so hopefully the manager etc have done their homework on how best to overcome it.

I think that you’re correct, even though Vic’s been working his bollocks off.

If we win tomorrow, I feel like it’ll be a big step mentally, and we’ll go on and end the Wigan/Blackpool bogeys.

He won't be starting IMO, otherwise he wouldn't have played so much on Tuesday, same as Johnston.  Sheehan and Iredale back in barring injuries.

I’d be surprised if Matate starts, not because I don’t think he’s good enough (very impressive so far) and not because Evatt isn’t ruthless or because he’s too loyal.

Purely on the basis that I reckon Evatt has mapped out his first few games with personnel, taking into account pre-season, not overplaying anybody too soon, managing game time for the squad. So those who played a full 90 Tuesday I don’t think will start tomorrow, which I think is reasonable for this game.

Sheehan and Tomo behind Charles, Arfield and Collins - like at Orient is my prediction

Sheehan & GT got over ran for periods at Orient and we should’ve been punished personally, we need a considerable step up from last Saturday imo
