Dentists like to describe themselves as "surgeons" or "doctors" when their actual  job is to repair bone outcrops rooted in our jaws and/or make Premier League managers look ridiculous on Match of the Day.

The NHS can no longer afford their egos so the majority have opted to go private and earn over 130K, which is the same as Hospital Consultants and more then Registrars who treat life threatening conditions such as cancer and people smashed up in road accidents.

That is why it is so much cheaper to seek dental treatment in Turkey or Hungary, we have let out dentists get an over-inflated opinion of themselves. They don't care that our children are suffering from record levels of tooth decay

Children aren’t suffering from tooth decay because of dentists

Some bloke fuck up your dentures or what?

Come on... If some youngster doesn't get the A Levels but still wants to have the ego of being a "doctor" or have meet their parents' expectations they will probably end up in dental school and then we over reward them because we all hate toothache. Who in their right mind wants to spend their working day firkling around in folks' dirty mouths? It's a failure profession at the end of the day.

The Advertising Standards Authority ruled against dentists without a medical doctorate advertising themselves as "doctors"... this was taken to appeal by the Dental Association and the BDA lost... they are and always will be secondary to professionals having medical doctorates and should not expect the same pay grades.

No dentures here ... i still bite with nature's own.

I am sick and tired of dentists and their attitudes... one of my mates at work just forked out £500 for two extractions as there are no NHS dentists anymore, 15 minutes tops including the time for the numming... £2,000 per hour?

As at the beginning of this discussion I am very afraid of GPs being driven down this avenue hence my pissed offiness

That’s expensive.  Ive still got an NHS dentist.

Demonstrably horseshit. See entry requirements for University of Manchester Undergrads.

Okay... If I need heart surgery or my leg re-attaching and a dentist comes into the room telling me he has the same training as the his lower paid registrar and consultant colleagues I'll just accept this and roll over.

You can dress any profession up to get people to sign up to the course... colleges and unis are very good at this... I wonder how many finish the course.

You are over simplifying Dimron.

They are paid what the market will bear - just like tradesmen.

Not all hospital Doctors are involved in 'life saving' specialties.

You also seem to be disregarding that NHS doctors also can and do engage in private work - particularly in the Surgical specialties.

Piece of piss is dentistry.

Don't have to worry about bones, nerves nor blood supply.

All they do is pick around a bit and pull the odd tooth!

🤪

Yet more bollox.

The research, from student careers service, Debut Careers, also shows the dropout rates by subject. Their insights reveal that computer sciences are the subjects which suffer from the highest dropout rate at 9.8%, with medicine, dentistry and veterinary science being the subjects which see the lowest, at just 1.5%.

What horseshit is this? Why would a dentist tell you he want to operate on your heart?

Would you let a doctor with no dentist training remove your abscess?

what shite you’re talking

For those very difficult ingrowing incisors! 😀

It's not the first time Dimron has expressed some strange views

I've known a good few dentists in my time

Some very well and as such their dentist mates also

They all did loads of drugs at the weekend

My advice would always be don't book a dental appointment first thing on a Monday

So why is State subsidised dentistry becoming redundant?

If it's not financial and or pure greed, please let me know

Creeping privatisation of dentists has been going on for decades. I really don't understand why you are finding this all so hard to comprehend?

I've never met a dentist I've liked and i have one in the family!

Back to one of my original comments: Most tend to end up suicidal or alcoholic because of their worthless lack of self-esteem

As I initially stated... Because I don't want our GPs going down the same path!!!

It probably would have happened under the Tories but might not now happen under Labour

Fair enough but you've gone on some tirade of all dentists that makes no sense.
