So you’re basing your gender split figure on a chat you had with a bloke 17 years ago rather than readily available stats?

The gender split at Birmingham is 65/35.

You're welcome.

What year?

I found this from 2019.

  • I find it quite amusing that Liz Truss is doing the rounds criticising the new Government's Budget. And next up on GB News, Gary Glitter's guide to half-term fun.

Just checked and the first reference to the phrase "bogwank" on here came from me in April 2005. I made it up and can't find any earlier Google refs to it. Should I be emailing the OED to claim a new

  • And there in lies the problem. Political parties use tax cuts as a way of trying to get you to vote for them but people don’t realise the implications of less money coming into the government cof

When my dentist decided to retire and sell his practice, the new lot took over and completely changed things.

One male dentist as far as I'm aware.

Saw him once and now see a woman.

All women assistants too.

No issue with that.

Do have an issue with the (lack of) quality of service. Thirty quid for 3 minutes of half hearted effort. None of the previous tasks undertaken during a checkup by the precious regime.

Chalk and cheese. This is an NHS practice too. Complete crap in comparison

Looking to go private now- might be more expensive, but they'll actually do something.

The NHS ones tend to be crap now, as they try and get you in and out as quickly as possible  - the place I go to offered me the choice of NHS or private - he explained to me that as an NHS patient, he'd have to have me in and out within 10 minutes, a private appointment he can offer around 20 minutes for a check up. I think the NHS cost was £30 and the private cost was/is £40 (I believe)  -  without actually coming out and saying it, he was basically telling me that he wasn't interested in my custom if I wanted to stay NHS 😁

It's the hygienist who seems to rake it in with me, about £70 for 15 minutes

My dentist is fab - just had to cancel this wednesday as I've got work but re-booked no problem.

Lovely Brazillian dentist, Polish assistant and Czech hygienist - god love the NHS

All the staff at my Dentist are of Indian descent, I believe, all British though, which I guess these days is quite unusual. The hygienist is a lady (from Leeds) but all 4 dentists are blokes, all the assistants seem to be women though

Also, can somebody check on @crawshawbooth, I suspect he was drinking very heavily in the small hours, I hope he's OK

I’m off to my NHS one later today, I’ve had to go back as it appears he’s fucked up an extraction I had last week. Im Sure I’m the only one who goes there and pays for my treatment, I jokingly said this to the receptionist last week and she gave me a “I know what you mean look”

Took my car to an auto-locksmith today... he sorted out my locking and alarm problem while I waited... "How much?" I asked... he looked puzzled... "Nothing, I know you"... gave him the tenner I had in my pocket and he was more than happy.

Could you imagine a dentist doing that? Lexus would have charged at least £50 (and insisted on sending me a video of the work!)

That would depend on whether you knew the dentist as well.

I suppose it depends if the dentist knows much about vehicle locking systems

What i have always found, if someone asks you to have a go at fixing something and your not a professional or expert at it ( but you manage to fix it), then never accept any payment!! ,Otherwise when it goes wrong again they kind of feel that they have some sort of warranty agreement with you.

If its gonna take a while or cost you anything or you can't be arsed, just say NO!!!

I've learnt the hard way 😞

It's the Japanese Mercedes

I was a returning customer... he has helped me with all of my cars (and he does call outs for Lexus and the main dealers when people get stranded).

I was expecting thirty quid at least but I obviously caught him in good mood

A sterling service to the owners of Lexi

Or you could just use google and proof things to be bollox in 2 minutes flat.

I see they are stinging a fair proportion of their support base now. Raising the fees of lazy fucking students mostly doing degrees that are either worthless or never to be used in later careers.

I actually like this one. If it discourages just one glass backed idle fucker into taking a trades apprenticeship instead of academic work avoidance it will be a good thing.

academic work avoidance.

I think this explains a lot about Bolty's ramblings.

Lots of links out there but I think I chose one that should appease most. 😉

Is this that backdoor method of decreasing student numbers?

If so, a poor method.

Don't care which party does it, but reduce the numbers of unis, and make them proper academic centres again.

Many still are of course, and they will be fine. Those that aren't, and are supposedly short of cash should be allowed to go bust or reform themselves into technical/trade based entities.
