I can't help

I feel a bit the same way about their relationship. I’m not for a minute saying there’s anything remotely inappropriate going on but they clearly have an unusually strong bond which may appear fine when things are going well but less acceptable when things are coming off the rails. In a performance sense, Evatt has effectively failed over the previous 3 years to get us promoted and it looks very much like he will fail again this year despite the targets outlined and the money invested in his players and coaching staff. Loyalty is a commendable thing at any time and she showed that in his first year and it payed off but this isn’t a new manager getting hold of things, nor a manager struggling with a temporary blip, this is a manger throwing good money after bad and failing over an extended period and still regressing further. At what point do you accept that somethings not working and hard decisions be made? You can’t just come out and extol confidence then disappear again while things worsen. If she’s so confident in IE don’t tell us what he HAS done, tell us what you think he’s going to do and why you think that because the majority of us just don’t see anything but decline. It’s time for Sharon to drop the “Buddy” stuff and face the hard facts. It’s only likely to get worse Sharon so act now for everybody’s sake.

We will have all known managers in our working life who most people think are bone but senior managers think they're wonderful. Often because they plug a knowledge gap so become indispensable to senior execs who are too far removed from the coal face and feel vulnerable (never admit this obviously)

Rarely are these people the 'best' managers, for either the organisation or the people below them, and this feels very similar.

Safe to say their relationship is what's kept him in a job to this point.

In the end though money talks, empty seats talks, and most of all results talk.

It can't save him forever.

I'd rather be like this and hold on a few months too long than be a basket case like Watford or Stoke btw.

Got to commend her loyalty. But now is the time.

Longer they leave it, the more difficult it becomes for a new manager.

Get him in.

If we sack him now it’s effectively wasting a transfer window by the time you get applications in interview ect the window would have shut .
It’s been left to late we have players whose contract are up in the summer who could be moved on now with the right offer . might as well let it play out and see we’re we are in feb squad wise

I think it's actually the Board who might be the ones to question not Evatt. To give him another £1.2m for another average lightweight midfield player to go with the others when we've been crying out for a no nonsense tough tackling player for 2 years is mind blowing.

But this in another business context of what is, in truth, a small/medium business.

It's clear that we aren't meeting our targets. We're short of designers ...  so finance & the Managing Director give the OK to bring a couple in.

The recruiter turns up with another welder ... a good coded welder with skills on a mix of materials tbf but hardly what is needed. You have plenty of welders. In fact your have to let one go to accommodate this new one.

Do you ignore this ? Or tell one of your fork-lift drivers to drive a lorry as well ?

Sick of this Rotherham subject. It's depressing. Can we delete it and move on to something else?

No, you can fucking suffer, it’s what us customers do.

That’s right, anyone who’s not prepared to do a bit of suffering needs to take a  minute to decide whether they are cut out to be a Bolton fan.

Been through this before.

Window or not, a new man now has the time to look at this squad for a good chunk of the season. Then has the summer to tinker accordingly.

Even if we don't get into the playoffs, at least the new man has more chance to work with the players, and observe their abilities, character, and performance.

THIS

Imagine he actually signs a couple decent players now and we push up the table and finish 1 point off the playoffs.

The board will give him a new 5-year deal and a warchest
