Am currently in Helsinki with work. Seen a fair bit of it. Very 1970s Soviet look and feel. Functional is my best description. Can’t say it’s a place that I’d look at coming back to tbh

I found Helsinki a bit dull. The saving grace was the short 25min flight to Tallinn.

We were due to go to Edinburgh for the fringe this August.  We'd already decided it'd be the last time, after doing 3 of the last 4 years, due to the cost of accommodation.

Booked it last year, then Oasis decided to do 3 dates in the city around the time we were due to be there. Got an email from booking.com this Friday canceling on us due to 'over booking'. We have the option of paying more for fewer nights in another hotel or sacking Edinburgh off altogether. I think we'll be doing the latter.

Such a turd trick the over booking. Not difficult to manage. Everyone knows why it’s done and they should pay you in my opinion when they do it.

Aye but in this instance I'm not sure they have overbooked. The owners have probably only just realised they could charge a couple hundred more due to Oasis being in town.  The price increases during fringe month are eye watering enough as it is!

went Sharm El Sheikh in October couple of years ago

was fine, didn't get shot at or bombed

just felt a bit too hot, stick and smelly

not a clean feel to it

wouldn't go again unless I'm allowed to fuck off on my own for a few days to visit the actual tourist spots like pyramids and sphinx and all that

Did the pyramids and the Sphinx a few years back. Such a shame it is where it is. A real anti climax

Can anyone recommend some nice resorts anywhere in Greece? Nice restaurants, Taverna's and not chavvy. We've been to Parga, Kassiopi in Corfu and Kamara in Santorini and we really liked them all.
