Just get a striker that knows what they're doing in this league. Pretty please.

  • Let's just get in the to fucking cunts. No more getting bullied and rolled like a bunch of gaylord fannies.

  • CMG is best in the B team

I think he’ll pick a team to match their physicality. I’d be amazed to see Sheehan and Morley both starting.

Absolutely.

Looking at the Preston game; they started together, and were fairly solid first half, but going forward, we didn't create much.

Perhaps they're both having to curtail part of their natural game to be disciplined and solid.

Simons looks a similar player, albeit a bit more physicality- certainly that Sheehan.

Then again, he may chuck in a huge curve ball, and play three at the back to counteract their head-in-the-clouds strike force. :)

Absolute certainty that Simons and Ehrahon start for me with A N Other ahead of them, probably Morley. He’s got a real dilemma now in midfield to get the mix right but for this one we have to be strong down the spine and I’m afraid Sheehan, McAtee and Randall aren’t that. Randall might get the nod ahead of Morley or be switched in game but I suppose as always it depends on how the games going. We’ll keep it tight to start then open up when we can.

I reckon he'll start McAtee in the #10 just because we know he can get goals for us from there and Burstow isn't exactly prolfiic if he starts at #9

I'd certainly start McAtee before Randall and Morley in that position anyway

He’s certainly more of a goal threat and to be fair if we have a keeper on the bench it’s going to be interesting who is left out and even more so when Dalby and Taylor are fit.

We could have a lot of debutants

For that reason alone, I wouldn't be surprised if Morley starts

I think the answer to that is, the one's that aren't in the squad will generally be that week's injured players. The fully fit squad isn't something Bolton managers often have to worry about 😀

I don’t know if we’ll win or lose, but worth bearing in mind that Birmingham only drew at home on opening day last year, Derby lost at home opening day year before, and Plymouth lost on opening day year before. All went on to gain automatic promotion.

We’ve won our last 3 opening day fixtures and failed to get promoted. On that basis I’d be happy with a defeat this Sunday.

Said before, it won't define our season.

We will need to have a reasonable set of results in those first 10 games or so.

Certainly evidence of more to come as the team gels and improves.

Yep. Was being a little facetious of course. Always good to win but at this stage it has little overall impact.

Looking at first international break in early September (whether it applies or not) as first check point. 6 games in, some tricky ones, and first fixtures after transfer window closes. 10/11 points, new striker in and no major injuries would be ok in my book.

Got a feeling he may start Johnston at LB - I've no idea about the front man. Burstow most likely, but Lawrence has featured heavily and seems to be ahead of Abimbola

-----Sharman-Lowe

JDC, Forino, Toal, Johnston

----Simons, Morley

ACD ---McAtee --- Gale

---------Striker-------

This is what I think SS will do, and also what I'd do. I reckon Burstow is miles ahead of Dave and Lawrence so will play.

TSL

JDC, Toal, Johnston, Conway

ACD, McAtee, CMG

Burstow

So that means for the bench we’ve got, Keeper, Erhahon, Sheehan, Forino, Tutu, Szabi, Warren, Inwood, Randall and Gale? Going to be a tough pick for Schuey with some unhappy faces if not even on the bench, even more so when Dalby, Demps, Forrester and Victor are back, let alone the likes of Sonny, Lawrence and big Dave and all that’s assuming we don’t get Kenny or the Left Back SS wants! Surely the exit door is swinging?

Doubt we will have ten on the bench

I think you've got it spot on there (with Morley and Simon's added in).

Tough on Forino as I can't really pick 2 from the 3 of them, and Gale will be first choice on the left wing once fully up to speed.

Whatever combination of midfielders and attackers SS goes for, I imagine Challinor will be looking at CMG and Conway and setting up to pin them and get round the back of them.
I’d have felt more comfortable if Taylor was available, but it is what it is and our FBs are going to play a crucial role in the outcome of this game, one way or the other. IMO.

Come on you fucking white men. Up for this now

Not sure I understand the trepidation with having Conway start at LB, played 46 games in league 2 last year with the majority being as a Left Back, he's more than capable for this level. Whilst his defending isn't as good as his attacking qualities, he certainly isn't a bad defender, he and we will be fine if he plays 30+ times for us there this year.

Really fancy us on Sunday

The game here last year was probably the worst advert for this (worse than wiggin h)

Can't see both McAtee and CMG both starting.

Why's that? Not like they operate in similar areas. I think CMG starting is pretty nailed on to start, Gale a week or two behind and would be a menace to bring on with 30 minutes to go.

CMG is better centrally for me.

The times he's made a difference, have been from a centrally position/freedom to move.

He may have played wide at times pre season, but I just feel him and McAtee together offer enough defensively, nor enough offensively to make up for it.

We're also up against a physical side too and I just wonder if we may go a touch more solid, certainly initially.
