Three games against sides who would've been assumed to be playoff contenders, two away from home. But Plymouth look dogshit and have lost every game. Barnsley played with 10 men for 46mins.

4pts probably about par then I reckon. I doubt we're on for 90+ points but we also look a lot better than last season.

Not good enough

Never expected to win but a lackluster performance especially against 10 men

It can always be tough against 10 men, granted we do seem make harder work of it than most.

So, happy with the point but correct, we do need to start taking our chances better.

It'll come 👍

Dalby gets one of those headers at the end on target and we win the game. Fine margins and shows how important he is going to be with the way we’re going to play and getting balls in the box

on to tues. Win that and it’s a really solid start all things considered

How long before this excuse stops being used? 5 of the players today were Evatts,  one has been given a pass as he came in late when we were in crisis and was awful today. The others SS hasn't prioritised in the transfer window so obviously happy with them.

It has been shit and he has to take some criticism.

He has signed around 12 players he can only get rid of the evatt players if someone makes an offer the ones out of contract all got fucked off snd the on loan playersNo one wants them is hands are tied so it will take time to ship a few out

Still plenty of time left, more time to gel needed. Noticed they were doubling/trebling up on ACD though, can’t imagine he won’t be far away from a leg breaker soon

Miles more to come. Looking forward to seeing Taylor hopefully at centre half making us more solid for GJ.

We still need a decent right back and another option up top, still not sure Dalby will be the answer.

I like our pace on the counter, just hope we can start putting teams to the sword as the understanding starts to gather.

Dare I say it but both no 10’s we have are shite.

Think I would’ve started with erhahon over Sheehan today to make us more combative in there, he looked decent when he came on.

Just seen the challenge again he is unlucky to get sent off but stupid first yellow has set  him up

We play on Wednesday. Don’t want you there a day earlier

I wouldn’t be adverse to a midfield three of erhahon, Simons and Morley. Scrap the number 10. Would be more solid

Two points dropped. Thick as mince in so many situations. Really need to be so much sharper in the final third.

This for me. A team who's conceded on set pieces each game so far this season, and we take every free kick short and square (& slow!). The corner for the goal only came about through a bad error.

Still - id have taken that result at 3pm

Not at the game, not seen the game and read no match report or this thread, however if i had just woke up from a coma since last season and someone said Barnsley away? What's yer thoughts?

I'd say, probably bullied, concede 1st, create a lot of chances but fail to put them away, fans will get frustrated and we probably scab a 1-1 and we'll think we'll have that as it could be much worse.

Am i wrong???

Aye, certainly been the story of our first two away games

Fully expect to win the next two at home

No real concerns for me. We've had 3 tough games against 3 of the more fancied sides in this division with only 1 real fit striker.

Burstow is good but is knackered after 60 mins this early into the season. Us not being able to replace him has been our downfall, particularly away at Stockport and today at Barnsley.

Rather than rushing in a striker for the sake of it, we have Dalby to come back potentially on Wednesday which is going to make a big difference personnel wise. And we can I'm sure, be bringing in another quality striker.

With those 2 to come, the exciting wingers out wide, I'm positive about our chances this season.

Back to back home games now against 'lesser' opponents.

My biggest concern really is the defence as still leaking goals. But let's not forget Schuey has had to completely overhaul the squad and rebuild, gonna take some time.

We weren't bullied

If we'd been offered 1-1 before kick off most of us would have settled for it. The manner of it though means more question marks than encouragment.

Without being dreadful we don't seem to have the class and comfort in defence to churn out those clean sheets. Meanwhile at the other end just not clinical enough

There are injured players to come back and we've signed 12 - which will take time to gel. Maybe now is not the time to judge and we have two winnable home games coming up.

Most optimistic thing to say is "work in progress"

Win the next two at home and we’re right in the mix.

Need to improve (particularly against the promotion rivals) but this squad will need time to gel.

Onwards & upwards

This is Schumachers team now, all this talk of Evatt hangover has to stop.

We’re showing signs of almost being a good team but continually fuck it up at both ends of the pitch. PPG has to start improving before questions start being asked, which at some point, they will.

Still, I’d have taken a point at 3pm today, but ultimately disappointed considering the red card and number of chances we created

I first realised Bolton had a football club in about 1970 when a kid at school had a bag (probably oft market) that had a shite generic outline of a man kicking a ball with the wording underneath, Eg Chelsea, leeds utd. Liverpool etc & TBH it was the long wording Bolton Wanderers that caught my eye. I went home and asked my dad and from that day THEY were my team, however they were a work in progress then and have been ever since.

Guess its a long job eh?

We had 4 (arguably) wingers on the pitch at the same time today trying to get back in to it. Whether that helped or hindered is up for debate. But much more refreshing than like for like replacements stuck to the same rigid structure.

I felt after last week we were going to be a bit 'win, lose, draw' over the first half dozen games, till we get the likes of Taylor and Dalby fully integrated and up to speed, still feels that way after today.

We certainly have some flicks, tricks and dribbles in us but still have some shortfalls to iron out in both boxes

Didn’t go to the game, had it on the radio at work and dipped in and out. Sounded like no real urgency again especially them going down to 10, just seen there goal and our school boy defending. Having said all that would have probably taken a point before the game. 2 home games to come with the chance of 6 points which would be a really decent start.

A few notes.

We drew with Barnsley home and away in the 2023-2024 season.

Being a goal up and getting a red card at 53 mins ment they just put 9 men behind the ball and held on, probably did them a favour, as we'd have ripped them apart on the counter when their legs got tired.

While we did draw level, we've got to get better at breaking down teams that do that and putting them to the sword.

I'm starting to get fustrated at the inclusion of Sheehan in the starting 11, i just dont see what he offers, he looks like an alien in this team totally out of place as the game bypasses him.

Exactly he has signed 12 players, this is his squad, he was never getting rid of every player here wether you like or not, no new manager ever does, and that is just not sustainable.

He told us we needed to be tighter at the back and concede less goals. He has choosen to keep this defence and not prioritise it for a major overhaul, and yet we are still shipping goals.

I know we need a bit more time to gel, but there are worrying patterns creeping in. At some point he has to take the blame
