Leyther_Matt Posted Sunday at 20:35 Posted Sunday at 20:35 Based on no intel whatsoever, I would suspect that the council will have been in the club’s ear that persistent standing in an upper tier is something they can’t necessarily turn a blind eye like they do in the lower. It is of course ignoring the fact that it is entirely of their own creation given that ESU never had any groups of standing fans until they cleared the corner of WSL and stopped folk buying in crazy corner. 1 hour ago, Stig said: North stand is the outlier which doesn't seem to have any standing area and I have no idea where the chants come from but there are some. As a north end of the east lower I'm absolutely in favour of these areas continuing to stand and create atmosphere while I get to sit down. I’m on the back row of NSL and on my left it only tends to be the back row that stands up, but on my right it’s always the back two or three rows throughout the game. There’s a cluster in the easterly corner too which is where the songs tend to start from. Quote

Big E Posted Sunday at 21:47 Posted Sunday at 21:47 The club have been fined apparently £60k due to two sections of ESU. Very strange given the rest of the ground has plenty of folk standing but the EFL didn’t notice them and only noticed people in the top corner. the only issue with our section was created when they stopped folk buying is ESL so they moved up to by us. Still very little bother though. The odd vaper and that’s about it. people can take the piss like and I no it won’t matter to the club but it’s a pain going the game as it is and another few weeks like than and I will happily bin it off. Went with my brother Saturday and only had a coke post match and still was out the house from 1:30 to 19:00 which is a long day for not a great deal of enjoyment when you are being hassled because of some random issue Quote
Alf Hartigan Posted Sunday at 22:12 Posted Sunday at 22:12 I sit in the block to the right of all the stander uppers in the ESL. They did it all last season. It used to be a sparse block until they came and started a good atmosphere. A few weeks ago the stewards tried to get them all to sit down. I started a chant of ‘stand up for the wanderers’ which caught on quickly and everyone stood again. They’re not interfering with anyone’s view because no fucker sat there previously. Anyhow, I got the email about enforcing sitting down and possibly losing your season ticket if not. Think it must have gone to the two side blocks of the ESU South. Last Saturday the stewards kept going down the seats telling folk to sit down, which they did, but only to stand up shouting again when stewards went back up. It became a bit of a joke between fans and stewards in the end. Something in the email mentioned that the stadium is not designed for standing spectators. But they never enforce that for away fans in upper or lower, just as they don’t when we go away. Could get interesting this if they start revoking season tickets. Quote
Big E Posted Sunday at 22:17 Posted Sunday at 22:17 The regulations stated within the email must apply everywhere which makes picking one section even more strange. I can’t believe we would receive a large fine and it not make at least the Bolton news. hopefully it doesn’t get silly. Quote

That was my first thinking about it, presumably it'll lead to club considering reducing away allocations to the few bigger clubs who'd fill some or all of upper tier. Granted Wigan hadn't much to stand up about the other week but I can't imagine there were stewards going amongst them to enforce it all game. This is the safe standing 'initiative' causing EFL to be pedantic and trying to nail clubs to 'standing in safe standing bits but nowhere else'. Quote

Leyther_Matt Posted yesterday at 17:38 Posted yesterday at 17:38 I don’t see how it would be in the EFL’s jurisdiction to issue a fine. What would be more likely is Bolton Council warning for areas to be closed, but I expect there is a decent enough relationship to avoid that. Quote
gonzo Posted yesterday at 19:10 Posted yesterday at 19:10 I thought we'd moved on from all that kind of shite when yon lad fucked off to MK Dons. Quote
