I will be watching tomorrow on TV but I’ve had some eventful days at Mansfield including witness for my mate who got nicked on one visit…. Anyhow my mind wanders back to the late 70s with that fantast

  • It wasn't shite. It was just uneventful. We just about did enough.  That's division 3 football.

How would you feel if we'd played sublime football for 90 minutes and lost 1-0 to a 95th minute penalty?

I would feel shit. Who wouldn't?

Strange question.

Not a clue. Just saw Tutu running off - felt robbed of a proper celebration 😂

But you keep banging on about the importance of 'the performance'?

The scenario you offered me you asked how I would feel. Not what I thought.

I'm not "banging on" about the performance. All I said is that it was poor. If you can tell me it was anything other than that then I'll listen.

I can only go off what you say. How would you feel?

analysts at clubs with the coaching staff won't just ignore the performance if their teams wins a game, why would it be any different in a match thread about the game itself from people who viewed the 90 minutes, no one is unhappy we won, we've played far better this season and dropped points.

winning 1-0 vs 10 men and not being convincing is always going to lead to people mentioning the performance, you only need to look at Everton vs Man U to see it's not easy to beat 10 men at times, but I think a lot would agree that the performance vs Mansfield won't see consistent results vs the rest and may not have been good enough to beat 11 men on the night.

It wasn't a terrible performance, we had some moments to extend our lead, but it wasn't say for example like how we played v Bradford recently or when we could have scored double figures vs Oldham, when you're team is playing 10 men, your mind kinds thinks what a great way now to batter them and for us to see plenty of attacks and shots etc and we only got 1, when we should be killing the game without it being nervy, the expectance of beating them and it being a breeze didn't occur, along with our overall away form, it's not a win that will erase the concerns of that.

Shite to watch I meant. Like we were last night. Yet they still got results. Lime we did last night.

Wrexham were awful to watch in both our games versus them and all the other times I clapped eyes on them.

They just amassed enough points one way or the other. Same as Derby the season before.

It's a wank league and wank standard of football, it's about getting points.

We've had three failed attempts to get out of this league playing nice. Yes, at home, we all turn up and would like to see goals and entertainment, away I couldn't give a shit if every game's dire as long as the other team gets nil and we get nil or more. Win at home and do that away and we'll be up.

We are currently top of the form league. Played a team down to ten men away from home. Got a goal and didn't concede. If we were top of the form league and the league it may have been a different story but we are playing catch up and protecting the three points is all that matters.

I don't think anybody is saying they'd be unhappy if the next 15 away games were underwhelming 1-0 wins.

Some teams are masters at finding a way to win ugly away from home and grind their way to win after win. Some teams are just shit away. But they might scrape the odd win if they're playing against a lower mid table side with 10 men.

Maybe we have found a formula that finally works away from home. But on the basis of this game, seems like there's a bit of work to be done.

At least you narrowly avoided getting hit in the face by the ball just before kick off

Shit I sound like a stalker !!

I did not know it had gone in and still thought it had disallowed which was bizarre.

I always look at the officials when stuff seems to have happened and the ref was just wandering around.

Like later when ACD had the penalty shout and he was stood chatting with linesman was sure they were giving a penalty but turned out they were penalising ACD somehow.

I wonder who they are? 😂

Just to be clear ...

play well away but don't win - it's all about the result

win away without playing well - it's all about the performance

Think I've got it now.

No it is always about the result.

Play well and do not win - The performance shows we are not a million miles off, but frustrating we do not win

Win without playing well - at least we won.

I guess everyone was happier after Tuesday than they were after Stockport, Barnsley, Orient and Blackpool.

There's a lot being read into a game that wasn't much of a game.

Rightly or wrongly, it felt to me marginally better than if we'd found out one of the teams that's beaten us had fielded an ineligible player, and we'd woken up to be told we can have 3 extra points.

It would be great to see our points total go up, but we wouldn't be taking it as an indication of winning the next away game.

As soon as a player gets sent off, for either side (and it happens a lot), I just lose interest in judging the performance.  No problem if others want to, but to me it just becomes a case of getting the job done whether its a backs to the wall point at Luton or a no-frills borefest at Mansfield.

Talk of winning ugly and all that is fairly irrelevant, we can't replicate the tactics, formations etc when its 11 v 11.

Why you looking at the bishop street stand and not the pitch ? The seats face the pitch not the stand . I think you are being slightly over critical . It's like you are looking at the east or west  stand at the toughsheet from behind the nets

It's a small ground , the playing surface was fine

Just a bit of light hearted banter mate - appreciate you sticking up for a local club though.

To be fair, I was looking that way because the game hadn’t started.

If I looked at either the east or the west stand at the Toughsheet I wouldn’t be able to see into someone’s bathroom.

I said nothing about the pitch, you’re right it was in great condition.

Thank god we got 3 points, broke down on the way home, over 2 hours waiting for recovery truck - got into bed at 2 - that really would put the tin hat on it if we hadn’t won or let in a late goal…….

Luton was far worse in that regard

Those houses look tiny

As the late great Al Davis said "Just win, baby"

By hook or by crook those 3 points are all that matters.

It reminded me of the away seating at Burnden in front of Normid.  Although that is probably grossly unfair to Mansfield.
