Run-in

8 games unbeaten with a run of like 8 games that are all "winnable" before an incredibly difficult April/May, each game goes and the gap seems to widen above us and we really are looking at the end game now

We haven't beaten anyone by more than 1 goal since 8th November vs bottom of the league Port Vale (4-0) and our performances recently are mixed, good for a half here and there and needing moments in the last minute to scrape points whilst missing a ton of great chances, I think with this keeper we'd have seen more points earlier in season, in a part I think our performances where much better but we dropped points so much.

If we go into April, 16 unbeaten (that seems far-fetched to say lol), confidence may be sky high playing those teams but when we can't seem to take easy chances and kill games, it's gonna be one hell of a sweat-fest against these tougher teams.

I think part of me feels there's still a chance because nerves play a part, I just don't think given our last 5 games we will get top 2 because we will need Lincoln to have a big slip up whilst we almost go perfect,  if we have a lot of dropped points in these next 8 games, the worst case could be we surrender the playoffs like last season, but I doubt this, you can't be third all season, without really clicking either for it go wrong all of a sudden, if it is to be the playoffs those last 5 games are great preparation at least.

How do you see it going? gonna be nervy.

If we did Finnish 6th I’d still fancy us going up

I really fancied us to beat one of Rotherham, Doncaster and Vale, I bet you and every other fan did.

Not being negative, its just that we can expect wins (or losses) as much as we want and it means nothing, because if anyone thinks they can predict our games, they're either guessing or wearing rose coloured specs.

Yeah but apart from that :D

It’s the last 3 games snd the quality of the sides we have faced that have dinted confidence .
But if we go to an inform Plymouth who are back to full strength with no doubt the international 3 rested with playing on Tuesday and duberry still being out and  get a win it’s got to be the best result this season so far

In my dream last night we were in a massive end of season game, can't have been the play off final as it wasn't at Wembley, anyway Joel Randall was back and a loose ball fell to him just over the half way line he was in loads of space and it looked as if he was gonna play it backwards but no, his pace was scintillating, knocked it forward into the channels and raced onto it shooting as if all in one movement, keeper was nowhere and we were 1-0 up.

The ground had a big open away end🤔🤔🤔?.

No, it was more like what Oldham looked like in the early 80s

I thought Bradford away date/time would have been announced by now, but no, penultimate week's fixtures not announced until this coming weekend.

What kind of an allocation do we get at Bradford? Trying to figure out how much of a fastest finger it’s going to be to get them

They only have to give 3 weeks notice for the last 2 weekends, was 4 weeks before.

Yeah.

Cardiff got 2720 and Stockport got 2762 so around that kind of number perhaps. Northampton got an initial allocation of 800 but probably more to do with their usual numbers/position

Two options, if we get just behind the goal it is just under 1000 I think but nearer 2200 if we also got two blocks in the stand on the Midland Road side. Pretty sure will be higher number.

While not dismissing some of the rational talk about the recent disappointing form, which has been amplified because Cardiff opened the door and we didn’t take advantage.….

..I think there’s been a few occasions this season, where, after a defeat, the overriding emotion has led to some over-reaction and gloomy predictions and outlooks.

And some (not all) are doing it again. While we may fall out of the play-offs, lose at Plymouth, struggle in all our remaining games it’s just as likely we’ll do the opposite of that.

On the back of some poor away form and losing at Northampton and Burton there was talk of us not winning away all season and nobody giving us a hope against Huddersfield.

After losing to Peterborough there was a thread about Schumacher needing to be replaced and no optimism at all about us going on a good run, no foresight about the possibility of new January signings and tactical variations being used to get us back firing.

I repeat, I’m not dismissing this poor run and subsequent disappointment which is justified as the top two has slid away.

But all I’ve heard these last two weeks is negative viewpoints. About our players, manager, form, statistics, hard run-in and how getting in the play-offs and winning the play-offs will be unachievable.

But, as I always like to do, there’s reasons to be positive. We’ve bounced back from adversity before. Without dismissing the draws, it’s one defeat in 14. We’re in 3rd in prime position. With our varied Play-off record of course you can look at failed attempts, but we’ve also won the play-offs before from a similar position. We’ve got our player of the year due back very soon.

And of course we’re Bolton Wanderers.

Time to shift the narrative, let’s get a win at Plymouth and get some feel-good factor back.

This season can still have a great ending.

COYFWM 👏

Were people really talking about us not winning away all season before we beat Huddersfield?

Yes

Something along the lines of “if we can’t beat Northampton or Burton, who are we going to win away against?”

I suggested Huddersfield to much ridicule

It's a major problem.

No people were saying if we do not win at places like Burton and Northampton where can we expect to win away ?

The people saying it, including myself, were largely people who went to Burton and Northampton so we’re basing it on the performances not just the results.

I knew I was right 🤣

Semantics really.

I get your viewpoint and I see the point you are making that what I’m suggesting isn’t quite what you and others were saying.

It’s good evidence to prove my point though. That just like then, when a win at Huddersfield seemed very unlikely and a positive suggestion didn’t carry much weight, we now find ourselves in a similar situation, where the large swell of fan opinion is, quite justifiably, negative.

But there’s always a reasonable, alternative positive view, which in my opinion, shouldn’t be dismissed.

And when better to air it, after a few weeks of consistent negativity and 3 days before a big, bank holiday, away game on the Devon coast?

Can’t be right. From what I read, it’s all the crap defence and, especially, George Johnston’s fault.

Christ knows how we’re third and only conceded 39 goals.

George Johnston can’t defend, isn’t a footballer and does 600 passes sideways and backwards.

Toal is the worst captain we’ve ever had.

Tutu shouldn’t be playing FB and Christie is past it.

Conway isn’t a FB and is overrated.

Forino comes out of it largely unscathed, but let’s be honest he’s prone to a mistake and can be clumsy at times.

Just some of the nonsense I’ve read on social media over the last few weeks.
