Run-in

8 games unbeaten with a run of like 8 games that are all "winnable" before an incredibly difficult April/May, each game goes and the gap seems to widen above us and we really are looking at the end game now

We haven't beaten anyone by more than 1 goal since 8th November vs bottom of the league Port Vale (4-0) and our performances recently are mixed, good for a half here and there and needing moments in the last minute to scrape points whilst missing a ton of great chances, I think with this keeper we'd have seen more points earlier in season, in a part I think our performances where much better but we dropped points so much.

If we go into April, 16 unbeaten (that seems far-fetched to say lol), confidence may be sky high playing those teams but when we can't seem to take easy chances and kill games, it's gonna be one hell of a sweat-fest against these tougher teams.

I think part of me feels there's still a chance because nerves play a part, I just don't think given our last 5 games we will get top 2 because we will need Lincoln to have a big slip up whilst we almost go perfect,  if we have a lot of dropped points in these next 8 games, the worst case could be we surrender the playoffs like last season, but I doubt this, you can't be third all season, without really clicking either for it go wrong all of a sudden, if it is to be the playoffs those last 5 games are great preparation at least.

How do you see it going? gonna be nervy.

NEXT 8                              LAST 5

What kind of an allocation do we get at Bradford? Trying to figure out how much of a fastest finger it’s going to be to get them

It is 2,762 for us, same as Stockport

So a win and a Cardiff loss on Monday followed by an away win at the big one in Cardiff next Saturday and the points gap is down to 2 points with 4 games still to play. Shows how those poor results against Port Vale etc have cost us big time

Talking of your loss at PV it is one of two wins in last six games 4/5 of our remaining opponents have mustered, although we have El Pastyco on Saturday so form bets are off.

Just beat Stevenage , ffs.

Knowing us we'll beat Cardiff then lose 1-0 to Stevenage

You see, we'd rather you lost to Exeter, as it increases the chances of Blackpool/Wigan going down, although their defeats to that pair and upcoming games against you, Stockport & Bradford would suggest they're doomed.

Have I missed announcement of last day fixtures? See Champ moved but L1 and L2 still showing 3pm which Shirley must change?

No that’s been confirmed

I'll tell you what.

This season has been easily the most miserable season since I've supported BWFC. Before all you dinosaurs pipe up and tell me your most miserable one, this is just my opinion.

With the exception of, I think, Port Vale at home and Exeter Away, every single game over the last 6-months has been a slog. Whether it's the absolute shite we've seen today or the draws against team we should be beating., it's been seriously tough viewing.

Immense credit to those who have stuck with it and question marks to those who still think what they are seeing is okay - we're achieving complete mediocrity.

Presume you weren't at Huddersfield, Wigan or Wycombe at home?

Cardiff home?

We've had some bloody belting highlights.

Granted I'm the same as you, some of the shite in our slumps in form have been horrendous to watch but it's just where we are.

As grim as sometimes have been we've had some bloody belting limbs and comebacks.

All just part of it mate, keep the faith.

The play offs will be an adventure that's for sure.

No doubt, Gonzo.

There's been some fantastic moments- but lets not forget the 80 odds minutes before the highlights

We've slogged our way through games and then showed unbelievable resilience to get back in to games - I think that's SS' biggest and possibly only plus IMO

I’d say the season we lost in the play off final was worse. Threw opportunity after opportunity away, lost almost every ‘big’ game that we had and ended up falling short. Every game that season felt like all the pressure in the world on it because we were so close to Derby for so long.

@gonzo has already pointed out some of the highlights of this year. Don’t get me wrong, it feels like an unbelievably frustrating season because the amount of nearly moments is ridiculous, but I’d still give that 23/24 season the nod over this one.

However, some of the shit through 2015-2021? Other than the promotion season under Parky I’d say every one was more miserable.

Aye I get you. We've been waiting for the proverbial click all season. Just never quite got going has it.

But we've still amassed enough points a and sheer fabulous moments to warrant being still a contender for promotion even with our massively inconsistent form.

We will be reet.

I'd say the Dougie Freedman seasons (after the first one) were worse. And the Lennon season we got relegated as I've blanked most of those seasons from my memory completely.

But the relegation season in 18/19 can't be beat surely, players not being paid as we limply got relegated and nearly went out of business.

This season has just been a mess in terms of no style of play and not being able to match the expectation we have, but we've had loads of great moments that weren't miserable, Huddersfield, Wigan x 2, Wycombe, Cardiff home, Plymouth away.

I will say i've never known a team be so difficult to watch though. To have no control in almost all our games, yet be a promotion challenger is crazy

Last season was worse than this year.

We had the demise of Evatt dragging on for months, Huddersfield battered us at home, another loss to Wigan, let’s not forget shipping 5 at Stockport.

A bit of lift when Jules took over and when SS came in but players just did not to play in the end. The bright light was Big Dave, because he tried hard !

I hope you're right, pal - I really do.

We've been waiting for it to click since SS came in and no doubt there's been moments when we thought it had e.g Birmingham (H) last season.

I suppose at what point do you accept it isn't going to click?

For me, the end of last season and so far this season has been well below everybody's expectations (if we're being completely honest). We've endured a season of hope and patience rather than enjoyment.

I've been quite vocal on here in saying that this management period has sucked all the enjoyment out of me and a lot of my mates. 12 of us sit together and I think only 3 have reached double figures in games this season.

Whether we go up or not - this season has taken it's toll.

Your last sentence is a superb summary 👏

This is a fantastic example of what the problem is now though.

No mention of the fact we were in a very good position with 10 games left and basically gave up?

The same players that lifted when Jules took over, just suddenly downed tools? Or did the manager not get the best out of them?

Anyway, it's all good in hindsight. I just think we're extremely patient as a fanbase - other clubs would expect more, I imagine.

I said the players ‘did not  to play in the end’

I miss out ‘want’ after ‘did not’ but pretty clear I mentioning the end of season cheese eating surrender monkey approach.

And we are in a better league position now than  last year

We are but we could still blow it and not make the playoffs

So long as we finish in the play offs, then the rest of the run in is somewhat meh.

Unfortunately, it appears that the playing side felt that way a few games ago.

Plymouth the obvious outlier there, but did it take a sending off to give the players a kick up the arse and something to fight for?

We're no shitter now than we have been across the season as a whole.

We didn't win one away game in half a season because we were already saving ourselves for the playoffs. We had everything to play for and all the motivation in the world a month ago and we failed to beat any of Reading, Blackpool, Port Vale, Rotherham, Doncaster.

This is just who we are.

It's quite amazing we haven't been relegated.

Fucking barrel of laughs you, Tom 😂.

Most of what you say is factually spot on, but come on, buy into the irrationality of being a football fan a bit won’t you?

Feel like there’s a sensible adult in the room that just pops up to tell you why you can’t make a massive den or throw your mate off the couch or something.

Agree with the waiting for it to click comment, but felt that way under Evatt for most of his tenure, and the last 18 months - 2 years were worse than this season for me.

I mostly enjoyed the games this season until our slump around christmas. Since then it's been pretty hit and miss.

If we're honest, for the most part it hasn't felt like a promotion season, more a transition. But we still have a decent shot at it so for now I'm on board with Gonzo's "it'll be reet".

If we do get up this season it will be a limp up not the strong and exciting promotions of the Rioch and Toddy eras. When their teams went out you expected a win but I can’t actually remember feeling that during the whole Evatt era and certainly not under Schumacher. I still find it quite hard to believe that we’re where we are because despite some exciting comebacks the majority of games have been just a slog. I don’t care how we do it, I just want us to get up and if we do then we can worry about a new team over the summer. Tuesday is now a must win for me and I fully expect the boys to continue with the inconsistency but come out with the 3 points in another difficult game to watch.

I can see Luton being dark horses. They are 33/1 for promotion.
