Wycombe Wanderers (H)

Has this been cancelled or something? - can’t see a thread for our next game on Saturday. If there is one please merge.

Anyhoo, it’s a tough one but we’re at home. All of a sudden, they are 2 points off the playoffs and have a game in hand on Huddersfield in 6th so there’s no way they won’t be fired up for this. They’ve been scoring for fun at home this last month, less so away but they have players all over the park that can find the net including Mr Morley, formerly of this parish.

They must be thinking playoffs in which case they need something off us…..but we’re not going to give them anything are we?

Scoring goals so late so regularly isn’t luck. It’s belief in themselves and a reluctance to accept defeat. In part by the fact that opposition are just absolutely fucked at the end and also that neve

How has the lino (referee’s assistant / assistant cu*t) not given that? He was in the perfect position to see that.

I go in the Ale House (Bank Top) after the match, it’s a bit of a trek (25 mins) but well worth it. Fine beer and proper pub atmosphere! Don’t like hanging around Middlebrook after the match, it just doesn’t feel right..

Went in there at night time a few weeks ago. It fucking stinks.

Give over, best gaff in the area.

As good an angle as the one I had from the other side, looking down on it

Yes, cracking pub (got the name of that and their other one mixed up), brilliant range of beers, good service too.

That away end is laughable by the way.

Duberry nearly falls over onto the bench on that last goal.....brilliant reactions all round

We reached the maximum of 1000/1 on Betfair before we scored our first

It was also matched

Unsure how much for tho

I like it in the hotel. Bar staff are rapid and usually a decent crowd in.

Never used to feel right but it is what it is. I do miss Scott's.

We have goal line tech at our stadium, but we’re not allowed to use it because it’s only valid for champ and prem.

Which is bonkers. If it’s available, use it.

Absolutely.

It's the same for both teams so no advantage over those without.

I'm glad it wasn't given as it gave us one of the best 10 minutes ever witnessed at The Reebok.

At that point the linesman has one fckg job.

Yesterday was exhilarating. That type of thing just does not happen very often.

In a broader context and speaking dispassionately you would have to say it would have been far less likely to happen 7 or 8 years ago and before. The ability to make 5 subs can change a game beyond recognition in a way that was not possible with one, two or even three subs. Once you add in the way refs add on so much time these days it means late and dramatic comebacks are far more in the equation.

As a big fish in a small pond we probably benefit with the quality of squad depth etc. If we end up in the play offs I hope it counts in our favour.

You like your stats, especially when goals don't include penalties! :)

Any way, it does show that their passing was very effective in our defensive third.

Much less so further back.

Helps explain how, once we started pushing them back and got on top, that we maintained it, and forced them to crack.

Stats do only have a level of use, but analysis can be useful nevertheless. The management and recruitment system uses them a lot.

Fair points.  And yes I do like a stat you might have noticed, for whatever reason right or wrong I'm just not into in-game stats but respect those that are.  One of the stats I don't like is "played an hour and yet to have a shot on target" as a stick to beat a team with, and if I'm not there I'm thinking "we're playing bad" but it just doesn't reflect the game so many times.  Hitting bar, post, shots and crosses flying across goal, 20 yarders just over, blocks by defenders in front of goal like Toal v Blackpool, all result in "no shots on target".  And passes are counted if they are 5 yards or 45.  Just not for me, I prefer to see the game myself.

I get that folk with far more insight than me will use them professionally, no problem with that side of it.

He was great when he came on, real football brain when he’s on it. Dropping deep , finding space, linking up with team mates, and crucially yesterday has an end product.

I would be looking to bring him in permanent in the Summer......Will only get better

Get your point, but we might have scored the equaliser and winner in injury time just the same.

Would be a bummer if goal difference came into things- by one goal 😀

Great pub.  I'll be there in about 4 hours all being well.  But living in Westhoughton its just not convenient on a match day sadly, opposite direction.

nope not for me, needs to be available at every stadium for it to be fair

Never stayed at middlebrook afterwards.

Each to their own but habits form and the boozers on site somehow felt a bit plastic, and "mass produced".

Went in beforehand occasionally but always preferred my local. Much better beer too.

No it doesn't.

I never understand this argument, when it is there for the benefit of both teams.

I'm sure all teams would like to have any goals they legitimately scored actually given.

I didn't think Huddersfield would be beaten as that is super rare, but that yesterday was off the scale, even if this season comes to nothing, that is a game for our future generations to look back on, like we do with old vhs highlights etc now, a quite unreal moment in our history.

google gave this answer when asking about this late comeback.

Here are some of the most notable examples of this specific scenario:

Bolton Wanderers vs. Wycombe Wanderers (March 7, 2026): In a recent League One match, Bolton was trailing 0-2 until the 88th minute before scoring three goals to win 3-2 in stoppage time.

Manchester City vs. QPR (May 13, 2012): Arguably the most famous Premier League comeback. City needed a win to secure the title but was losing 1-2 going into stoppage time. Edin Dzeko equalized (90+2') and Sergio Agüero scored the winner (90+4') to win 3-2.

Bournemouth vs. Everton (2024/25 Premier League): Bournemouth achieved an extraordinary recovery in the 2024/25 season, scoring three goals in the final minutes to beat Everton 3-2 after trailing by two.

Barcelona vs. PSG (March 8, 2017 - "La Remontada"): While not 2-0 down late, Barcelona was down 3-1 on the night (trailing 4-0 from the first leg) and required three goals in the final seven minutes to win 6-1 (6-5 on aggregate).

Manchester United vs. Lyon (April 17, 2025): Manchester United came back from 4-2 down, scoring twice in the final minute of extra time to win 5-4 in a remarkable Europa League match

Your barca one. 3-1 down on the night, and 4 down from the first leg.

Presumably that's 3-1 up on the night!
