  • I'm not sure there was an expectancy of Simons as such, it's just that he was so impressive early on. His form fell off a cliff, but that early form showed there is a very good player in there. D

How can an entire cadre of professionals engage in such harmful groupthink? They spend their lives scientifically looking for the "one per cent extra" that might give them the edge ... then have players passing it square 10 yards from goal.ย

Pompey keeper just gave it to a Cov player for an open goal from 5 yards.ย  Can't really blame the keeper, all he was trying to do was a Cruyff turn or something which would have looked far better than a boring clearance.

I somehow suspect all of the analysts will miss that simple detail when they present their post match dossier to the manager.

Big crowd with 3k away fans, away from home, bit of needle with Sarcevic.ย

This does have absolutely all the hallmarks of a game we'll lose. But then so did Plymouth and we (somehow) won that one with 10-men.

He wasnt in the squad tonight

Rested for Saturday or injured?

commentator didnt seem to know - he came off the bench on saturday - both Bradford and Plymouth looked shite

Iโ€™m worried about this.

Not about a defeat, not about it effecting our play-off position.โ€ฆ.

โ€ฆbut about them kicking us around the park and getting players like ACD, Rodrigues and Kenny injured.

Stupid I know.

As in reality we need these players playing as part of our best team, winning and securing a 3/4th spot.

Part of me knows it would be silly to rest players for that reason.

Best scenario would be what happened against Stevenage. Get in a winning position and get them off sharpish!

Totally agree; they are the dirtiest team in the division and will target our qualityย

Sarcevic nor Pointon in the squad tonight.....Not sure if they are being rested with Saturday in mind or injured

Was Plymouth who bullied them Tonight....Some meaty challenges going in. Will be a few limping in the morning

Right now I'd take finishing 3rd and playing Stevenage in the semi over any other possible opponentย

Don't care who we play at Wembley

But I definitely want to avoid Stockport, Luton and Plymouth in the semis

well those results tonight were exactly what I wanted

all good here

Be amazed if this is anything but a 1-1 draw, most likely result in the history of football. We can play with the pressure off now.

Pointon properly injured

Sarce got a knock apparently but the fans I know think that is a nice way of saying you are dropped.ย

If he was dropped then he will likely be out of their ,ย  ย you know he doesn't like being droppedย

Both these men and Stockport seem to have some key men / players in key positions out at the minute and the fan bases feel a bit restless.ย
ย

these players will likely be back for the play offs and non really seem long term. So whilst it might not help us in the play off games as such, it could help determine who finishes where.ย
ย

we have Bradford & Lutonย

Bradford - Us & Exeterย

Stockport - Posh, Vale & Barnsleyย

Stevenage - Doncaster & Wigan

We have to go there with the aim of winning the game. Not only to leave 3rd in our own hands but also put a marker down against a team we may face again at some stage in a couple of weeksย

donโ€™t really want to be going in to the Luton game needing a win and them needing something too.ย
ย

Also, it would be absolutely typical of those tin pot fuckers down the road to get something off Stevenage and deliver us a more difficult tieย

just been looking at table Luton are slowly creeping into this and have a good goal difference. We need a point on Saturday as Bradford, Stockport and Stevenage all have piss easy run ins.

Hate to think we are playing Luton on final day needing not to lose to stay in play offs, but realistically could happenย

Personally think we need 4 points to achieve 3rd. Mathematically it looks like we need more but think other teams will also falter.ย
ย

so would much rather go in to Luton needing just the point rather than 3ย

Be good to get at least a draw Saturday and beat Luton next week to end their playoff chances

Focus needs to be solely on Saturday for us. A win puts at home for the 2nd leg regardless of result.

ย

i'd like 3rd for the 3pm away day. Don't fancy an 8pm Saturday ko.ย

Im flabbergasted we only have two games left.ย

Have we clicked yet :D

Humphrys and Power will be looking to leave their mark.ย

Saw a stat earlier saying we have conceded a 2nd goal within 6 minutes of the first, 7 times this season.ย
ย

SS has put it down to the players immediately wanting to rectify the situation. I see it slightly differently and feel like weโ€™re similar to a dazed boxer after a solid shot. Legs go to jelly, mind fuzzes over and theyโ€™re staggering around trying to compose themselves.ย
ย

Whatever the reason, we canโ€™t have many more instances of itย

I see it exactly the same way as you. Panic sets in and you just know that if you can get through 5-10 mins then it tends to settle again.

Iโ€™d add the first 5 mins after half time to it. Not for the same panic reason but we definitely seem to take a while to get back into a โ€˜rhythmโ€™ and just get a bit of composure / control.
