Gonk Posted Wednesday at 18:11 Posted Wednesday at 18:11 I'm in but it really fucking pains me that it's 8pm on a Saturday night. Could have been a 5:30 KO 3 other ST holders Iknow aren't going as 2 are on a long booked birthday meal and the other cba giving up a Saturday night. Quote

You'd be surprised - probably a couple hundred difference between actual and given attendance than the several thousand it usually is. Mind you, think it's just playing staff/manager/board this time (and I'm not sure they're actually comps this time) so most if not at all are likely to turn up. I believe they count STs in attendances on a match day whether they are used or not. Quote

Some of the recent night games we've barely had 10k on. Don't tell anyone our secret though as everyone else in the league thinks we are massive Quote
Dr Faustus Posted Wednesday at 18:51 Posted Wednesday at 18:51 I know of 6 ST holders away and another 3 that don’t bother anyway. I’ve not got mine yet, gonna try and do everything tomorrow Quote

Popular Post batton carrier Posted Wednesday at 19:12 Popular Post Posted Wednesday at 19:12 I miss the odd night game especially in winter usually due to work and it all being to much of a rush. No way would I miss this. Yeah kick off time is shite its on tv etc but unless I had a long standing prior arrangement it would take a seismic event to stop me being sat down in the ground at 8pm. Nights like this are why we do what we do. Most Saturdays are taken up with the football anyway this is one no different ,just a little later. I cant think of a better place to be at 8pm this Saturday . Quote

But can’t be arsed giving up a Saturday night puts you pretty close to shit fan status. Quote

Popular Post Lostock Whites Posted Wednesday at 19:58 Popular Post Posted Wednesday at 19:58 (edited) You always look at the past as an indicator, but one thing is for sure, our fan base has grown much larger in recent years. 22k average in the 3rd tier is virtually unheard of throughout our history, albeit we've not spent too much time here. For comparison, we got a 22.5k crowd against Posh when we got promoted on the last game during our last period in League 1 9 years ago. That's just above our average this season. Our average that season was 15k. If we were told that we'd have 16/17k season tickets alone you'd have thought it was a joke. Who knows what we'd be getting in Champ/Prem, you'd be looking at talks of expanding at that point. It's what makes these 5 years in League 1 so painful, we are desperate to kick on now and to finally make our way back after now 7 years since that near extinction. It's been a long hard road back, I'm on my knees now to the footballing gods that we are 3rd time lucky in the play offs in League 1. Bradford, Stockport & Stevenage can all wait, they've had enough recent joys and promotions. Our time now, please 🙏 Edited Wednesday at 19:59 by Lostock Whites Quote

gonzo Posted Wednesday at 20:14 Posted Wednesday at 20:14 Our fanbase is ridiculous to where it was a few years ago and just doesn't really make much sense. We get bigger crowds now than we did in the later stages of the prem era and championship times. That Tranmere cup semi final attendance always makes me shudder. Few seasons before we'd packed Burnden out v Swindon yet we could barely manage 13k on. The Villa semi was as bad. Embarrassing in fact. We've definitely gained a lot of support north of Bolton by being in Horwich, towns like Leyland and Chorley are all big Bolton bases, miles more than they used to be. Quote

I think similar about a few of the European home games. The way football supporter/"awayday" culture has gone in the last few years as well, imagine the even larger hordes champing at the bit for the away games than there was last time around too! Also, not sure if it was just coincidental timing or not but I saw it from that first season back in Championship after dropping out of the PL, loads of groups of younger fans going to aways who will now be prime age. There's loads of us from Horwich, Blackrod and Westhoughton who live in or around Chorley. I know 6 who live in my village who were just in my year at Rivi, there's plenty more. Quote
