Politics - Part 2

Kemi Badenoch doesn’t really need to speak in public more than once a month and she’ll do ok. In that respect, keeping her head down is proving very effective.

Sniping from the sidelines and criticising everyone clearly has merit. 🙃

This is part 2 of the Politics discussion.

Some meltdowns are more fun to watch than others.

This one is an enduring, beautiful example.

True…, but we need to show a little bit more compassion today for him. He’s just lost one of his pin-up patriot heroes with the passing of Anne Widdecombe.

Funny old game politics, saw from one side he has been criticised for not speaking out enough about the genocide and being a part of Labour Friends of Israel.

Now he does set out his stall and it's a measured and light take on the situation, yet you find reason to criticise that.

As always, if both sides aren't quite happy but also not so upset that they're up in arms, then he's probably got the best of a bad situation.

Plenty on both sides absolutely are up in arms

I'm not sure there's a position a politician can take on this that doesn't provoke very strong reactions

he's one of those who is able to critiscise Israel whilst knowing that is not discrimination of Jewish people

like he said himself

"There is no contradiction between a zero-tolerance approach to anti-Semitism and holding the Netanyahu government to account"

for some reason

you think they are the same thing

Do I? FFS.

I'll criticise anything Labour matey. Get fucking used to it.

Think if you're going about criticising all these Turkish barbers and ice cream shops laundering money then you need to make sure you're squeaky clean yourselves no ?

Some dodgy dealings coming out of Reform and Farage.

I heard on the radio today that Farage knows he's being made to look a dick now, and there is a high likelihood that he will pull out of the Clacton by-election himself now. So whilst he won't be an MP, he can still be leader of Reform. He'll then just wait for the GE, and then run again.

I hope he doesn't do that, as I do want to see him on stage, being congratulated by Binface and Laurance Fox, when he wins back the seat that he had no need whatsoever to give up

Nobody ever mentions the dozens of empty hair salons, nail & sunbed shops either....easily way more of them around.

It’s a big issue - I’d like to see more politicians talking about it

Sadly we’ve also a massive proportion of the population taking drugs & funding these places.

Combine this with the death of many high streets , it’s depressing

But if you’re going about highlighting these issues … probably best to make sure you’re not a dodgy money launderer as well 😂

Aye you did

Time will tell whether it will be enough to change enough voters minds

I’d guess not

We've also got a lot of skint town councils, who gladly accept the money and are happy to turn a blind eye, as long as the money keeps rolling in, and makes sure that their high streets don't become totally derelict

it's grim, my local town, Biggleswade, has far more Turkish Barbers, Nail Bars and Vape/Gadget shops than a town its size should be able to accommodate.

Most of them who would vote for him just think it's a witch-hunt, by the establishment. They're too fucking thick to realise he is the establishment.....and he really doesn't give the slightest fuck about them

Aye

So sad to be honest. Sometimes you don’t realise until you see a place as it should/used to be.

Was away in Comrie near Stirling for my birthday last weekend.

High street was ace. Butchers, deli, charity shops, antiques place & even a proper greengrocers

Well that's the thing about idiots, nobody is squeaky clean.....and the ones that are the dirtiest to the most shouting about others.

We all now lads who run businesses that earn £12k a year MAX......but swanning around on holidays, in new cars moaning about others leaching off the country, can't make it up really.

Part of the issue is that these businesses are monitored by Trading Standards when it should really be considered organised crime and investigated by the greater resources of the CPS

It often feels like the State is decades behind when it comes to understanding the country

It is. Because long-term plans are kicked down the road in favour of short-term populist shite.

I work quite closely with TS - and the funding they get is pathetic in the grand scheme of things. I think they have two enforcement officers for the whole town. So totally agree - they need to be better resourced.

Also given many folk don't mind buying the stuff from these ropey businesses if it can save a few quid. These place won't go away if they've a steady customer base.
