  • Can't agree there pal. I know a few Wolves lads. Anyone over the age of 40 have us up there with West Brom as most hated team. We inflicted a lot of damage to them. From them getting twatted all over

  • no I think you like it, which is why you keep going on about it, at length, and musing over how people may or may react no one else is going to get you banned so no need to keep going on like you do

How do you become a millionaire.

Start as a billionaire and buy a football club.

Despite nearly going out of business some of our fans still complain we’ve no ambition because the owners try to manage the club on a sustainable basis and are not (yet) paying millions in transfer fees.

See the crowds & profile of other clubs, spending tens of millions & you do wonder how they're doing it. Or can sustain it.

I know they're daft sports with franchise models but the NFL and basketball in the US all pay sky high wages and yet turn a profit. Football just amasses greater debt with no prospect of it ever being paid off.

aye, few key differences are

salary caps all teams adhere to

no transfer fees

all tv and sponsorship revenue is split equally between all 32 teams, rather than more to the team that finishes top over the team that finishes bottom

the worst teams aren't finanically impacted if they come last / bottom - it doesn't have any impact on revenue - they're actually positively impacted by getting first pick in the drafts

and there's only the NFL in the US and not other countries doing the same thing also trying to attract the best players

I agree, they’ve set up rules to do what they can. But the lunatic can prove they’ve got all the money in the world, it doesn’t mean they’re going to put it into the club if they get bored / fall out with fans / have assets frozen etc.

Short of making a new owner put something like 5 years’ worth of expected losses into escrow (which they’d never do and frankly couldn’t do), they just don’t have the levers to pull to make sure any new owner keeps pumping cash in year after year to cover the inevitable losses - so you’re relying to a degree on good faith.

Yes I agree totally, I was just trying to show that the EFL wouldn't let any nutjob take on any club just to keep it alive unless they can show proof of funding for a the season ahead (Dale couldn't, Sharon could) and despite everyone including no doubt the EFL themselves, wanting Bury to continue, they drew the line when it became clear that Bury's owner could not fund the oncoming season.

And yes there are several examples of where owners DO have the money but no longer want to put it in - Wigan's first Administration was a direct cause of such.

And talking about Wigan, they have a local lad who is a billionaire who saved them from their second Administration but his interest is Rugby League, and as such he's willing to cover the football clubs losses (until he can sell the club on) but not willing to put any of his money into it, to make them competitive.

They do it (or used to do it) because the owner can afford to put millions of his personal wealth into the club (Abramovitch) or the club generates vast revenues (Man United - had zero debt before the Glaziers took over).

That has changed now to limit how much the owners can put in, which has had the effect of the six most wealthiest clubs at the time (in terms of the value of their squads and the stadiums revenue generation, they had (United, City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs) being 'locked' in as the 'big six' - think of it a bit like Bolton is having to build a better squad from scratch with little money (which is like the recently promoted clubs to the PL over the last few years have to do (Ipswich, Burnley, Hull, etc) - and why even well run clubs such as Brentford, Bournemouth, Fulham, even Newcastle can't compete year on year with them, having in the end to sell their best players to them.

The article I posted up the other day showed that Spurs (who have had two dreadful seasons) still could spend £400m on players every season because their annual revenue is so great.

I guess there are three main reasons why owners put their personal wealth into the clubs they own, either is because they are fans themselves and have the money to do so - Eddie Davies, the people who own Preston, Stoke, Newcastle, Brighton, etc, or those who see a failing business, turn it around and sell on (I kind of think that may have been Sharon's original idea for us - the talk of making us sustainable whilst getting to the Championship all within three years - iirc what was being said at the time?) and the third being simply to save the club from going bust (Wigan, Exeter, etc).

I will look forward to you bitching about the length of this post and seeking to get me banned yet again, even though I wrote it specifically to reply to your point...

Have a nice day.

Boro have signed Kyle Joseph from Hull so with others leaving I wonder if that means Burstow may move up the pecking order and get his chance there?

Not a chance and that's no disrespect to him, same as Matete going back to Sunderland last year after they got promoted, he either sits there and doesn't play, or gets a move, probably to L1 if its in England.

(Matete moved to MK Dons in January, played 6 games and got injured in Feb).

Angling for arguments on this thread as well now are we.

It's stuff like this that makes people think you're a dick, most people don't care about the length of your posts, most skim through them, some might even read the whole thing.

You just don't help yourself

The bloke wants me banned - ok, bit like waving the imaginary red card at the referee all the time.

Doesn't bother me what he thinks or does, I don't get upset at shit on social media like he, you and many others do.

Thing is I saw something I thought I could help him with, and because I don't sulk, or care what he's said and done before, I was happy enough to try my best to help him.

After I posted my reply it struck me how it left him - does he thank me (not that I care if he did or didn't) or would he complain that I wrote yet another 'long' post even though it was to help him?

I just saw the irony it the situation.

I thought it was funny as in ha, ha - not nasty as you seem to think I did.

I don't care if people think I'm a dick on here, because on here is not the real world, as many of you seem to think it is - you certainly act as though you do anyway.

I tried to help the bloke, you know turn the other cheek sort of thing and then realised the irony has I've said, what does he do next, ignore my post or complain about the length of it as per usual.

Then surprise, surprise you pile in.

Anyway I'm off out now, so enjoy the rest of your day.

Toodle pip.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

11 paragraphs is a lot to say you don't give a fuck.

stop it

just post the info and keep on topic

you say you don't care or don't it take it seriously, repeatedly

but you clearly do

wind it in or go back to nuts

I'll probably say it a few more times too.

Look for what it is worth over the years I've been a mod on The Wanders, Burnden Aces and Bolton Nuts, I've had over 20 years of being called and abused daily on the internet and I'm still here - taking even more, so do you really think it must bother me...?

It's just words on the internet from pent up folk who probably could benefit themselves from signing on to a good 'anger management' course.

It is the internet for God sake NOT real life.

God help you if you get stressed so much if someone like me can trigger you because I write a bit too much for your liking on a footy forum, your blood pressure must be off the chart in real life if that gets your gander up.

@Zico I see you've posted whilst I was writing this.

Fwiw and forgive me for repeating myself, I don't take words on the internet from complete strangers in any way seriously and God help them who clearly do.

Then roll it forward. They’re subject to a winding up order, likely to go out of existence within weeks/months - no sane person is going to come and save them, but a lunatic who says he’s got the money and wants to buy them and therefore save them comes forward. Do you let them go bust or give them the chance to at least survive for a bit longer?

I don’t think you can ever solve it whilst football finance in general is such as basket case.

Sheff Weds fans were loving it when it was all good

But how do you force the owner to sell a club?

You keep saying you're not bothered and don't care, and also keep saying its not real life, yet you carry on spending your real life time going on about it at length.

I think you like the attention

No stress from me, I just personally think you're ruining the forum. (And I dont require a 12 paragraph reply in response to this opinion, to tell me how much it doesn't bother you.)

I've been looking after this site for 6 years and not been abused or called anything

neither did any of the other mods, or happy

You've had it for years across 3 forums and now brought it here

have a think about why

I can answer that easily, I never banned anyone who ever abused me.

It's just sticks and stones to me.

And people have called the mods on here names before and have been instantly banned, maybe it's different now under you?

Maybe you should check back why I was banned on here 6/7 years ago, and that wasn't because I was being abusive to anyone.

Anyway I've said what the score is with me, if people don't want to believe it, that's up to them.
