It will be interesting to see if the Panorama programme goes out. Telegraph says that the BBC lawyers are carefully vetting the programmes contents, which is due to be screened on Monday 18th September.

I never understand people wanting Sam out. For one who would you replace him with and secondly do you believe our current crop of players will take to someone else. I for one think many will want to leave if sam does. Bottom line is Sam is one of the best managers in the prem , without him we cerainly wouldnt be where we are today. His recent gripes about attendances also get to me . I too would love full houses every week but unfortunatly with pub viewing football we will only get a handful of sellouts this season. He is probably looking from the point of view when trying to attract quality players he will already have an uphill task when competing against teams who sell well over 30 thousand week in weekout. Naturally these will come across as bigger clubs with more ambition. We all need to add that little bit extra at the match to show the stayaway fans will not be missed. Big Sam has been the greatest ever bolton manager.

 

We might not have a pot in the cupboard but when we won trophies, there were 20 odd other teams who could win one in that era as well. Now its down to 2 or 3, with the oddity of the Carling Cup.

 

Winning promotion, keeping us there for so long, and getting us into Europe was a greater acheivment than winning the cup in 58.

 

However, the point comes where familiarity breeds contempt.

 

I honestly do not think the club is big enough to make that next step and it will get to the point where Allardyce is totally pissed off with it all.

 

When this day arrives then it's a slippery slope for all concerned and through no real fault of anyone in particular, the fans will get pissed off with the club, allardyce will get the brunt of it, he'll then get pissed off with it all and it will all go tits up.

 

I honestly wouldn't be suprised if this season was his last, which will be a great shame considering his massive achievments.

 

All good things come to an end some day and I'd sooner it end acrimoniously then in a mess.

We're playing Sunday League football, pal. We just happen to be in the Premiership.

 

If our illustrious leader considered adding "that little bit extra at the match" perhaps there wouldn't be quite so many people with better things to do with their Saturday afternoons.

Seems straightforward to me. Sam is the best thing to happen to our beloved club for decades. Enjoy the rest of our time in the sunshine because once he has gone, I seriously doubt our ability to stay in the EPL. Looking on the bright side, the football side of things and away games will probably be a lot more fun in the lower reaches.

Although i hate the type of football Sam advocates, and i don't like the things he comes out with on telly, i like the fact that we are a Premiership force to be reckoned with, and seeing us in Europe was a lifelong dream for me. i think you are correct, he will take the next big job, not because the board have not backed him to the hilt, but because we cannot get enough people throught the turnstiles, the club has to really focus on bringing in more supporters, it is not enough to expect the teams performances to bring in the crowds, that does help, but all aspects of the club-fans interface needs over hauling from top to bottom, currently it is shoddy amateurish and frankly dragging the club and its image down, and the team is paying for this with empty seats all round the ground.

It as allways been the same , nothing as changed over the last 35 years

a new manager will not very much money

 

he won't have a relationship like sam does with both players and the board

 

and they're probably won't have the dedication and thoroughness that sam does

 

so if and when sam does leave it will probably more than likely be the beginning of the end - whether that means lower finshes, relegation, whatever, it will more than likely not be the success we've been spoiled with over the last few years and give more people yet more reasons not to attend matches

I love the fact we're an established mid to upper table Premiership team, but I hate the way we play.

Some games are ??35 plus nowadays and I want to be entertained for that kind of money.

Why is everyone so negative?

 

Sam is the best thing that has ever happened for this club. We are an established mid to high table prem side and sides hate playing us. IMO when Sam leaves which he will when the next big job comes up it will not all be doom and gloom. I don't think that we will suddenley be fighting to stay in the premiership. We won't shoot down into league 2. He has made us into such a good strong team, and has done so much for the club in general that when he leaves he will leave behing a very good and well equiped team that any half decent manager will be able to come into and carry on his good work.

 

What I am trying to say is that he has done all the hard work turning us into such a decent club that it will be fairly easy for a new manager to take over and keep us challenging for Europe season after season.

There is far too much doom and gloom here for my liking also. Having spent the first 28 years of my life in Bolton I realise that some people would say that there is a cup of half empty mentality about the place, which possibly lends itself in many positive ways to the character of the area, and so much of this negativity should be taken with a pinch of salt, but nevertheless the negativity is bordering on breeding untruths. IMO some of these are:

 

1.) Though the Watford game was dire, it wasn't because we were playing hoof football, or trying to play hoof football. In fact, with Anelka in for Davies, we were coming unstuck trying to play passing football on the floor against a very effective, more direct team.

 

2.) There is a lot of reference to our crap style of play. Whilst it is not Arsenal, it is certainly comaprable to Chelsea, and no one was criticising it against Tottenham, or home games against West Ham, Charlton, Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool amongst others last year. People on here are disturblingly starting to sound like the press. The press started this bandwagon in what most BWFC fans would call an entertaining 2-1 win v Newcastle in October 2004. Our style of play is often direct (not as direct as the press make out), and can lead to some awful games, and some fantastic ones, but surely that is the case for all styles of play unless you are the likes of Barcelona.

 

3.) A number of people are saying that BSA will leave when the next decent job comes along. This may be correct, but don't underestimate either the influence of PG, and the fact that BSA is BWFC through and through and has a genuine desire to be successful here. Also he is an effective manager not because he is great tatically, but because he has had the vision to put a large and effective structure in place, and then to stick to this structure and man manage individuals well enough to make it work. Also he has had strong support from his employers. It would take a long time to set up such a structure at another club.

 

4.) The club does not lack ambition and have suggested and stated repeatedly that they want to get in the top 4 and win trophies. Surely this is a reason to back the club at this time.

 

5.) BSA was not criticising any indivdual supporters during his piece in the BEN on Monday. He was saying I am continuing to make this club successful, why are the fans not turning up. A genuine point of view surely? I am aware as much as anybody about the issues at the Reebok around pure customer service, cost, parking etc. etc., and how bad the Watford game was, but it is still a valid point of view from the manager who is continuing to achieve miracles here on the pitch.
