MickyD Posted January 14, 2007 Author Posted January 14, 2007 I'l have you know that myself, Kempo, Shewan and Big E were making an effort to get behind Nicky Hunt and chanting his name and we were in the ESL. Infact if I were you then I wouldn't have a go at the supporters in the ESL because we are the only ones that actually sing and get behing the team. Apart from one little "Ivan Campo" you wouldn't ever know that the rest of the crowd was there. Good on yourself, Kempo, Shewan and BigE for backing Nicky Hunt but if you'd read my post properly you'd appreciate that I wasn't having a go at those who didn't have a go at Hunt it was a swipe at those who do! As regards the "Only the ESL sing", maybe you ought to come over to the WSL for a game where you'd hear chants actually backing the team rather than chants taking the piss out of the opposition support. That said, I'm sure the game really picked up for the duration of the ESL Choir's chant of "Yer Mum's yer Dad!"
Carlos Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Yes we did start up an Ivan Campo song and yes he was piss poor. We were also singing some Nicky Hunt songs but they obviously didn't get heard outside of the NSL. Encouraging the players and singing their name when they are playing crap doesn't make you a idiot. You couldn't say that Hunt had a great game but he played better than Campo/Gardner/Stelios/Tal/ and most of the rest, yet he was singled out by the boo boys(mainly in the East Stand), they are the idiots. I agree to a point, except that people who sing Ivan Campo do so because he's got funny hair and is a bit weird, not for any footballing reasons. If he was from Breighmet they'd be booing him like they do Nicky Hunt.

I had a season ticket there for 8 years and maybe once a season you might be able to do a bit of clapping. It's sh1te. And to be honest I don't think the players are running about on the pitch listening to what the fans are singing, they will up their game if the noise level is high, whether the Bolton fans are taking the mick out of the other fans loudly or whether they are singing "Wanderers" loudly. If by taking the mick out of the other fans we create an atmosphere then I would say that that helps the players.
Traf Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 2 sh??t teams, 1 shit pitch, 1 shit ref and shit weather yesterday. But another point and another clean sheet. Still 5th, with a bit of a gap to 6th and 7th and one less point to find towards our target. Onwards and upwards, move on.

Guest Biff Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 , I'm sure the game really picked up for the duration of the ESL Choir's chant of "Yer Mum's yer Dad!" This chant always makes me think that it says more about the people doing the chant than the opposition in that they have difficulty differentiating between the sexes. Now if it was "yer brother's yer dad, yer sister's yer mum" it would make more sense (not literally of course!).

sunninghill Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 I sit in the family stand and I thought the Ivan Campo shout started in the esl at the northern end,as most noise comes from esl the people in that stand wont hear any one else shouting because of the noise around them, but I can assure you that there is shouting from other areas, so why the fcuk dont esl get off their ragging high horse and stop thinking that they are the only ones shouting. cocks.

I'm sure there are a lot of people shouting near you, stuff like "c'mon Bolton" and "ref you tw*t" but you don't sing. There is a difference. And I do know that you don't sing because I sat there for 8 years before moving this year and trust me the ESL makes all the noise that comes from the Bolton fans. Edited January 14, 2007 by Eddie

I sat in the WSL on the side towards the North stand which was made into part of the family stand at some time, I'm not sure when. Anyway what I was meaning was that I had sat in an area of the ground that does not make any noise, be it the Family stand or the WSL.

That said, I'm sure the game really picked up for the duration of the ESL Choir's chant of "Yer Mum's yer Dad!" i thought campo was poor yesterday, but i think he knew that from his reaction to one pass in particular but he did look the most likely to create anything. nicky hunt was ok yesterday, he is a full back and we have one of the best defences in the country, ok his distribution can be poor but yesterday he was a long way off being our worst player. i can see both sides of this because it is hard not to get annoyed when he fucks up a cross from a decent position but i am sure everyone knows getting on his back does nt help. the kevin nolan 'not sure what he does but we are better when he is doing it' arguement was true again yesterday. (for yesterday read saturday !)
Guest as Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Hunt was poo - simple as. Vaz Te came on and look liked a p??ss-poor pub league player. Andromada looked pretty good, a few mistakes but he was everywhere & tried his heart out. It was a bad game, but I'm sure we've all seen enough games over the years to expect them once in a while. As for sl??gging off difefrent parts of the ground - the ESL make most of the noise in that stadium, the North Lower aren't bad (I sit in the ESL, right next to the North Stand), I've sat in the West stand twice, one v Leeds (4-1 win to send them down) & it was dead. And last season v munichs and it was even worse.

Singing that utterly shite chant to every single set of fans that come to the Reebok can only be classed as totally embarrassing, not "taking the mick"! Get a life and come up with some decent chants...

Get a life and come up with some decent chants... I agree I don't like singing that chant to every set of fans, it should be saved for the dingles. But at least it's something making a noise. P.s I have never started that chant off in my life.

That was a couple of great balls he played through to the corner flag. Don't put yourself down!
