YATESY
Heading back over the border into Bolton for a night out in a few weeks for a mates wifes birthday. The plan is to eat at Mai Thai on Chorley New Road and then down to Firefly Wine Bar. Having been to neither before, what are they like?
Site Supporter Spider Posted April 11, 2007 Site Supporter Share Posted April 11, 2007 Full of blokes who've got almost a million pounds but not quite. They laugh louder than they ought to and are simply aching for you to ask them which car is theirs parked outside. Food's nice though.
no balls
Heading back over the border into Bolton for a night out in a few weeks for a mates wifes birthday. The plan is to eat at Mai Thai on Chorley New Road and then down to Firefly Wine Bar. Having been to neither before, what are they like? Bloody good feed in Mai Thai, have one of the soups, they're a meal in themselves. As for Firefly, it's full of blokes who think they're attractive because they drive a flash car & women who have had more plastic surgery than an Italian porn star. It's good to look and laugh at them though.

Plums
Mai Thai was good when it first opened... food was excellent. Went recently and was a little disappointed in the service. Food wasn't bad. A friend also commented without prompting on a recent bad experience. Firefly wine bar ... oh dear .. you are made to feel about as welcome as the BBC in Sams office. jimmyjoojar
Wine bars are for queers. FACT. Firefly is full of utter cocks, fannying around in that pokey bar bigging each other up. I'd do my upmost to avoid it. Especially if its a nice night, they are like (fire)flies round shit when its nice enought to sit on the decking. I mean a bar with decking is reason not to go on its own. However the food next door is pretty good, and is worth a try.

Guest kempo
I went to Mai Thai last year when it just opened and saw diouf inside at the bar. The food was good but very spicey. Everything seemed to be served with chillis.

no balls
As much as say, the Hope & Anchor and Doffcocker? Has anybody ever been in the Hope & Anchor. I pass it regularly, have done for 30 odd years, and I have yet to see someone come in or out (in a Willy Wonka's chocolate factory stylee). Is it a front for something sinister?
